Layaway

Any of you guys know any trusted online sellers that have used Rolex's for sell that they will do a short term layaway. I am looking to get a few subs over the next few months with some specific years of productions. I would like to research and find the right watches and if I find the perfect one have the choice of putting it on layaway so I don't loose it for a couple months

I didn't say all of my watches at once. I said there were a couple I was going to be buying over the next year. I just wanted to be able to find them and make sure I didn't miss out on them when they were available.

My AD does layaway.

I've put all my Rolex watches on layaway, even when I've come back the same day to pay them off.

The ones I've ordered, even though I've put down 50%, I've put them on layaway, although I've paid in full when they arrived.

To me it's just a way of hedging against an unforeseen crisis and the sales people haven't seemed to mind.

When I bought my Tudor North Flag, I paid the full price on the spot, because it was late, I was sweaty and tired from bowling, and the party crowd (Tudor debut) was about to show up.

Walmart brought it back to. I guess they figured they were missing out on to much business to Kmart because they quit offering it

i'd do credit before any layaway if a credit score is no concern. get airmiles, points and some cc companies even have little to zero interest for the first 6 months.

Almost impossible to find any Rolex with the exact year of production as any internet code can only give a approx date when a case was stamped.And with high volume sellers like the subs many case serials overlap for different years.

I have found that ADs are not supplying original papers with used watches because of privacy laws/concerns and that turns me off. Original papers and boxing add value to a used watch and I would prefer trying to get it which means buying from a private party.

The one advantage of buying from an AD is getting FREE financing on new Rolexes, a nice way to force yourself to build equity slowly. Kind of a forced savings account but you have the advantage of seeing and wearing your money.

Deals here are mostly cash-orineted. Layaways tend to be 90-day arrangements. Perhaps you ought to float a 90-day note at your bank for each watch you find?

Lol, very funny.
Just so we are clear here, I wasn't saying that this would be something that was a must. I was just asking if there were places that if you found a watch that fit what you were looking for, could you have them hold it for a little until you could get your money together. It always seems when I find the exact watch I am looking for, my CD's are three months out or it is not a good time to get rid of a stock or something that is going to cost me other money.
I just wanted to see if there was places that would hold it with a deposit until it was a better time. Not more than 30 days.

I would gladly do payment plans if I were selling a sub.
XXX up front and balance due in say 3 months. All payments are nonrefundable. The price would also be a bit higher compared to a cash sale.
That situation is a huge WIN for a seller.
if the buyer pays you then you make more due to the finance terms. if he backs out then you have the deposit and any payments made plus the watch.

I agree. It shouldn't be a big issue. I am in the process of buying a watch this way and have sold a piece of art this way. What's the big deal as long as you get paid.

give DEUTSCH & DEUTSCH JEWELERS in laredo texas, they are the AD here.,
they have houndreds of rolexes in stock all the time. and they have a layaway plan,, very respected business they also have stores in mcallen tx and houston
, i have done layaway with them and they inmediatly get your watch in their safe after you do the layaway.
ussualy they give you 4 months.

only problem is that I dont know if they have subs right now,, I saw they had like 8 in the display cases 2 weekes ago, but since christmas
arround the corner, I went 2 days ago and they where completly out, with exeption of the two tone ones., but maybe they already recieve some more. im glas i got mine 3 weeks ago.

also lee michales jewlers have layaway ,, they have san antonio stores and houston

As a seller would you want to manage all the timing issues / agreeing to "terms" of managing late payments et al?

Seems to me if you were a professional dealer, managing layaways and flaky customers could result in challenges / damages to your reputation - wrongly or rightly.

I bet most professional sellers would not want to take this on.

Growing up I wouldn't have had any christmas presents if it weren't for layaway... If you ask individual dealers they may be receptive. They can only gain a purchase while holding your money. I found a dealer that would have given me 6 months if I needed.
