Black or White 42mm EX for white Daytona owner?

I have decided on the 216570 Explorer II but I can't decide on color. I love the white one and prefer it over the black but I already have a white 16520 Daytona. Wouldn't having two white (out of a collection of two) Rolex watches an overkill?

I can't flip the daytona because of the sentimental value and swapping the dial with a correct one would cost a lot.

So, should I buy the white explorer and stay with 2 white watches, perhaps buying a third in the future, or should I buy black which I also like a lot and it reminds me of the original explorer 2, and add a little diversity?

I prefer the white as you do but understand your concern. How about a gmt2c till you add a third? I wouldn't get the black expy if I were you because the presence of the white version will eat at you.

You love the white so get that one, for me the choice was simple! Good luck!

Tough choice... Don't fret, go get some rest, dream about your deciscion and make your dreams come true when you visit your AD regardless of what color dial or what we say here on TRF... Just be sure to come back and post an incoming thread of some sort so I can

Be well!

think it depends on what you are planning to wear it with, the black dial may fit nicely with a dark suit and be more incognito, the white dial does have more presence.
ideally have both!

Black, based on ur Daytona. But ultimately I prefer the white.

If it were me, black Daytona and white explorer.

No rules in watch collecting! Get the white if you like that better and get a black dial watch in the future.

Good luck with your decision (can't really go wrong either way).

The ex42 stands out in white for me. I'm having the reverse problem. White or Black Daytona?

Not overkill.

If (unlike me) you know you'll actually wear the EXPII while having a Daytona sitting at home, then I strongly urge you to go with the watch you already stated you prefer: Polar!

There have been times I felt a black-dial watch would go better with what I was wearing, but a white-dial watch goes with everything just like a black-dial watch does.

And, since you can wear another watch while letting your Daytona sit at home (sorry, I'm personally having difficulty wearing anything but my Daytona right now, despite having three other wonderful Rolex examples from which to choose), you will undoubtedly add a black-dial Rolex as number three. My choice for your #3 is the Sub no-date, since you didn't ask :)

If you prefir the Polar go for it. Who cares how many white dials you own, your opinion is the only one that matters.

Black was my choice for both. I have never felt compelled to choose color based on what I already own. Get whatever you prefer most and don't look back.

When I tried both on, I instantly was drawn to the white.

I also had a white daytona, but in that watch I think I would have preferred the black.

But I also agree that I would feel uncertain about 2 white watches.

Who said you need to have a mix of dial colours ?

Don't get me wrong it would be nicee but choosing a watch you don't like as much just to add variety is not very nice at all ...

Oh no I love the black as well! Really like it and prefer it over the SubC. I just like the white a little more. Now that I have went through a lot of photos, especially some Vader pics of the black, I'm loving it more!
