Another Warranty/Serial No. Question
Hi everyone, I bought a subC ND from a TRF trusted seller and the warranty card is under someone else's name, this is psychologically umcomfortable for me since I dont plan to sell the watch. Basically when the 2 years warranty expires it'll be a useless document so I dont care THAAAT much. My real question is: does rolex keep a database with the original owners name? cause if so, i would like to link my name with the serial number of the watch in their database, so when someone refers to my particular Serial No. my name shows up I know it might be silly but I really want to feel that it's MINE you know.

I don't think Rolex does that. The only serial number database I know of that is used for ownership is if the watch gets reported stolen. Other than that I'm pretty sure they don't keep names with the serial number. I could be wrong and I'm sure the experts will chime in soon

Sorry. Don't think there is any "link" feature.
Furthermore, your warranty is likely useless now. Many threads on this topic, but in the US, the warranty does not always transfer to the new owner. |

I know when you send it into any RSC they then put it in the serviced/work order history database with your info and watches info. When they send it back to you a rolex paper invoice is enclosed and has your full info along with the full info of the watch. Hope that helps???

i think rolex will put your name in their database when you send it in for service. at least it'll show your name and the serial # on the service invoice. just get the watch appraised in your name, that way you feel more secure? it's your watch, forget about the name on the card .

As mentioned, Rolex does not initially link anything with any serial number except where they originally sent it for sale... The original Dealer maintains sales information.
However, if you personally request any service, or service estimate, or have it serviced, you are then permanently linked with that watch at that point in time.. They will not do this over the phone. Of course, the next person who does the same thing with this watch will then be permanently linked at that point in time, and so on.... but I agree. It is a nice feeling to know that Rolex has your personal information linked with your watch.. The original warranty card is really meaningless after the warranty period, except for those who feel the need to have somebody elses stuff..

I am not so sure Anchorman.
Rolex has a database of the serial number and the corresponding movement number. Rolex has a database of the serial number for each Rolex sent to an AD. The AD has a record of the serial number linked to the original buyer/dealer. Why would there not be a database with all this information available? IMO in this day and age it would just be the push of a button. But as Larry has said in any event it will come back from its first service with your name on the documentation.

This area of Rolex ownership is one of the most misunderstood - and fortunately least used.
I say "least used" because the vast majority of Rolex watches never need warranty service. But here goes for Rolex USA watches. All come with a full warranty of 2 years. The watch is warranted - the owner is the warrantee no matter how they acquired the watch. See the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act, and 15 USC Chapter 50 - Consumer Product Warranties. The law does not apply equally to service warranty, though - in other words the manufacturer's service is not covered by the law in the same way as the product. So the subsequent RSC warranty is limited by the terms and conditions set by Rolex. Now in the current OP's case, the US Code has no application because he resides in Mexico. The watch (if it was shipped to a Rolex USA AD) is in the Rolex database as being sent there. IMHO, if the card troubles you then just ditch it. Put the watch into RSC for cleaning/oiling on your own nickel and start a new 2-year warranty in your own name. And as Padi said, begin your 30+ year love affair with the Sub!

Very late to the party here, but when i originally acquired my Sub in Wisconsin, USA, I asked whether the dealer (an authorized dealer in this case, and a brand new Sub)reports my name to Rolex, and the answer was no. I definitely agree with 77T as to the transferability of the warranty in the USA, and there are many posts on this subject.
