I don't own a boat:(
I almost had a chance to own a small yacht after the hurricane for cheap but I declined. My dad rescued boats for the insurance companies, and individuals and a large boat small yacht was going for about 20 dollars, with a lot of work needed of course. Most boats he recovered and worked on were either tossed onto land or sunk.

I always wanted to learn to sail.

The two best days of owning a boat are they day you buy it and the day you sell it.
Having a friend/s with a boat is the way to go.
Does that qualify as a boat? It looks like a rocketship.

Hi there, welcome aboard TRF!!

That thing looks scary fast!! Nothing's quite like a tunnel in a 2-3 foot chop.

Mine's a bit slower than yours, but it does OK.

It's interesting how we evolve. In the mid 70's I ran a Swiss cheesed FL class 14.5' Thundercraft flip of a Checkmate hull with a fresh 140 Johnson. The boat ran in the mid to high 70 mph range with a 27 pitch cleaver, but never cracked the top echelon. Nowadays we measure our performance by 1/10 knot.

Mine looks a lot like this. Power options include oars or a trolling motor.

No one owns a boat.

The boat owns you.

Sadly, I am boatless. I grew up cruising on an Alberg 30 and daysailing on a Hobie 14.

Maybe in a few years I will get a sailboat, possibly something in the 27-30 foot range.

In the meantime, it's easy to recapture the feeling of sailing. Do what I do in the off season.

Stand in an ice cold shower fully clothed, and tear up hundred dollar bills while drinking warm canned beer. You'll get the feeling back right away.

That just proves the definition of a boat = a hole in the water into which you keep throwing money.

I had a boat, a stedjy with an 80 Johnson.
Took it out twice a year and had to replace the motor when the reeds went.
Couldn't give it away in its final days.
