Just bought DJ2 TT SLTE/GRN RMNS

Hi all,

So it's been a while since I've posted about me getting the DateJust II, but I finally came in at my AD. So I got the call last week that it was in. I went in to try it on and decide. Well as you know from the title of the thread I did buy it. It is the best!!!! I love the dial and how it changes in different light, which is really beautiful. I also love the combination of the gold green and slate. It looks very elegant and classy. I still have my GMT 2C SS, and my DSSD C. Now I have a nice selection of watches. This for me is the best. I can't think of another model that I would want after this one. But as we all know I will find one that I have to have. It's addicting, but I love it. Now it is supposed to be a Christmas gift that needs to be wrapped, which means for the next 24 data I won't be able to see it!!!! What will I do. I might go insane.

On a serious note though, should it be okay to sit in the box like that untouched for 24 days??? Please help & thank you all for the great pics that helped me decide!

Also, I plan on going on vacation to the beach. Is it okay for the gold to be exposed to the salt water?

I would think so. Sunken doubloons seem to do OK and they're digging up gold that's been in the Bering sea for centuries. I'd be more concerned with scratches from the sand on the beach.

But a little swim shouldn't hurt. Just rinse it off after.

I've been thinking on how to take care of this one. Are there any special gold cleaners out there or polishes?

Nice watch. A real beauty No probelm if you leave it in a box for 24 days or weeks. No problem swimming in salt water. No special gold cleaner needed just soap and water. By the way when swimming in any open body of water I always put my watches on a nato strap. More security. Also rinse off the salt water when done swimming for the day. Gets rid of any dry salt residue.

Very good idea. I will keep that in mind. I do however have all my watches insured. Well this one will be here in the near future. So I should be fine. But I like the idea of a NATO strap.

It's not safe to keep it in the box and salt water will eat away the gold,

It is stunning tho.

Sorry this is not correct gold is a noble metal and will not corrode in seawater heck it won't even corrode in hydrochloric acid. Although rolex uses 18k so it is not pure gold but still I think you would have to worry far more about the stainless steel corroding before the gold. My Rolex watches get exposed to salt water on almost a daily basis and have been for years no trouble at all. You will want to use some veraet watch spray to clean it to get the salt residue off.

Thanks for getting me the right info. I will definitely make sure it's rinsed well after going for a swim in the ocean. If I end up actually wearing it in.

Thanks!

Congratulations! The dial you got there is my favorite of the tt datejust II choices!

I am a person who likes to wear my watches to what ever I be doing, and that means they will get some scratches here and there. So if it was me I would swim with it in saltwater without even thinking about it. BUT just remember to wash it in fresh water wean you get home. Because steel does not like saltwater in the long run.

Well I decided to have it wrapped as I was going to do. After a few hours of looking at the box non stop I decided to tear it open and just wear it. Who was i kidding.... Like I could even think about waiting 24 days!! Lol, but I will still have a great Christmas and will still receive things from family, which are the best gifts. So overall quite excited to have it on my wrist. I've noticed people staring at my watch as I waited in line. Not used to that since I wore a SS all those years. Great watch!!!

I know I LOOOOOOVE mine!! Absolutely stunning. Mine is an everyday wearer. I plan to put this one through the ringer of abuse. I'm thinking about getting an Explorer II (since I live in AK...I feel its appropriate) for the abuse part...but haven't quite convinced myself just yet.

An Explorer would be a good candidate for putting wear on a watch, but personally, and I might be a bit biased since I a DSSD C, but I'd go for a DSSD C. They will take anything and come out in top. The only downside is getting used to it and then going back to a smaller watch is hard.

I agree. That is too much of a beauty to keep in the box for even a day you should enjoy every minute with it. congratulations!

The roman digits on your watch seem of a smaller font compared to others, also they seem pasted on the dial while I think they were printed on the watch I've seen. Are there 2 different slate roman dials?

I've attached a few photos for reference taken from the forums.

To answer you questions Rolex doesn't paste dial markers on the watch. They are physical pieces. As for the dial it depends on what setting you are in since it does change in light. When I took those pictures I was In a pink room, so that changed the hue of the watch's dial, which is why I love the watch.

Also in addition to your pics you were in a bright outside light and very close so the markers look more projected. Mine are the same when I'm outside as well. That's the beauty of the watch. Nice observation though.
