Watch Stopping and Winding

Just got my Rolex and after a few days I had to rewind it. I thought that if wworn everyday it would keep running. How do i wind it to keep a power reserve?

Also moving forward, how often should I expect to see it stop or how often should I expect to have to wind it - if I wear it everyday does that mean I will never have to wind it??

Welcome to TRF.

For the first time, give your watch about 40 turns of the crown. After that, if you wear it for about 8 hours a day on a daily basis, it should not stop.

Your watch will actually not fully charge while on your wrist, it will require circa 900 full wrist movements ( you choose which motion: side to side or up & down).
But as JJ says 40 turns should sort it and if it does stop do not shake it violently to re-start it, swirl it like a nice brandy.

There is a passage about winding/setting your watch in the FAQ's on top of the General Rolex Forums.

Giving it a full 40 turns of the crown, as JJ suggests, would help, but you also have to WEAR your Rolex. If you often place it on the bedside table (or where ever you may place it), the power reserve drops. An automatic movt. needs about 900 turns of the rotor per day, and if the watch does not get enough energy, eventually it will stop.
