A trip to the ad with pictures and a little advice
Hey all yesterday i decided to visit the AD'S around fifth ave in Manhattan,
first i stoped by Panerai to see there new models and tried on the 424, really nice i must say then when to Tourneau to see the Rolex models, just as i got in there was a guy with a two tone sub looking at a ceramic sub and as he handed it back to the sales rep. she asked him what is he wearing and he answered, as soon as he did she replied maybe its time to upgrade>>>...... the look on his face was priceless guess no one would of liked that comment. well let me say this to the guys who are thinking of getting a rolex or any other brand out there the best thing you can do is go to a place that has the models you want and try them on, believe me when i say this i didn't like the sub c until it was on my wrist and i'll be getting on it is sooooooo nice well i saw a 116610LV in person for the first time its ok but when i ask to see he hulk everyone looked at me with this confused face then the guy asked with model might that be? i smiled and said the green one so then the sales rep. next to him asked me then what would you call the all blue one? and i said the smuf then i got "what's a smuf" when around the corner to wimpe rolex and got to see the DSSD the no sate sub but no sky dweller but i must say i really baffled by the lack of knowledge of the sales rep. at these AD'S you would think that when seeing potential clients walk in with there later models they would at least know what to say. |

Thanks for all the pics, Hulk looks fantastic on your wrist! I know what you mean about ADs, I had one who didnt know what the lume or pearl was and one thought a 47mm Pam Submersible was 44mm.

i agree with you that some AD's dont seem to know there arse from a hole in the ground, this weekend in birmingham uk (goldsmiths in the bullring ) they would have struggled to be less helpfull, quick tip to any AD's reading if a chap walks in wearing a GMTIIC and wants to try on a daytona i suggest you help him as he may want to buy one

Thanks for sharing. It is always fun to go around browsing ADs inventory...
As for the associate's knowledge, I think one has to understand that a sale rep is not necessarily a WIS and vice versa. I know one wished they knew more but most of them simply don't. Personally, I expect from sale reps to be courteous, polite, and willing to help. Then, I am not surprised/scandalized if they lack in terms of full, deep, super accurate knowledge of the whole Rolex (or whatever) lineup from 1658 until 2130. |

A day in the midtown shops is always a good day.
So are you leaning towards the 116610LN? |

Torneau sucks. Haven't met a nice salesperson at any if their stores. I'll never buy from them again.
Wempe has a nice selection - good to try pieces on. So is the Rolex AD on 5th ave. No discounts there tho. |

The more I travel, the less I find myself going to the local ADs. It's just not fun. Useless sales people who are pushy and unfriendly turn me off. I can browse beautiful watches in the sales section here and never leave my bed.
