The big sale
A young farm boy, wanting to work in the big city applied for a job at a large department store. One of the managers asked him if he had any previous experience and the kid answered he had been trading cows on the livestock market for a year. Deciding he liked the kid, the manager gave him the job.
At the end of his first day, the manager asked the kid how it went and how many sales he made. The kid, all sweaty, wiped his forehead and answered: not bad, I had one sale. Puzzled, the manager asked: only one sale, how can this be, most attendants do 20 to 30 sales a day. What did you sell then and how much was it? Well, the kid answered, it was $189,446.56! The manager, completely baffled asked: what did you sell then? I sold a small fishhook, then a medium sized fishhook and after that a large one. Then a complete set of fishing tackle. I asked the man where he wanted to go fishing, it was at sea, so I sold him that large twin-engine Power Craft fishing boat with trailer from the third floor. And because his small car couldn’t tow that, I sold him the Landcruiser as well. Astounded, the manager asked: are you trying to tell me that this man came in for a small fishhook and you sold him all this stuff? No, the kid said, he came in for a box of tampons for his wife but I told him since he wasn’t going to get any the next couple of days, he’d better take up fishing!
