I Just Fixed a HORRIBLE PVD Job on an Explore.. Thought you guys might enjoy the Pics

This coating job was done by one of the "other" guys.. and according to the customer it came off in a few months.

This is the fifth Rolex life I've saved since september

He had to lose a bit of meat on the bezel when grinding off the old coating, but at least I could save the numbers!

The amount watches being ordered is nice and steady, I prefer it that way so it doesn't become a "fad". These aren't for Rolex purists.

it looks as black at the end as it does at the start , im sure its just the lighting ,,,, so pvd isnt hacking the paste in day to day life then.

It depends on who does it and what coating techniques are used. My watches can be worn every day for years.

I am not a fan of modding any Rolex. Oh I guess some minor changes are actually very nice, and it's the owners watch so do whatever makes you enjoy it, but I personally find PVDing probably the most hideouos of anything you can do to a fine instrument like a Rolex; just MHO.

Having said that, you obviously take pride in the work you do King, I don't like it, but if you have made a customer enjoy their watch more and a person happy, then more power to you.

The "after" pics are taken with my android while in the car... taken on the leather handrest... so yes they are bad pics =)

I'm taking it the purpose of your post was to demonstrate how bad the "other guys" work is - and secondly, to show just how good a job "you" did in saving it?

Perhaps I'm not getting something here....but why take such poor pics in such a rushed manner ? They demonstrate very little of your proposed and implied 'good' watch saving work.

Good pic of a bad watch and bad pic of a good watch. Makes no sense to me.

Before and after pics should be same quality IMHO.

Bad pics yes, sorry I didn't have my TRF ready camera on me to take pics before I shipped off to the client, and I didn't actually take them with the sole intent on posting online. There are plenty of 'studio ready' pics around if you needed, which you probably don't because you don't like Black Rolexes so the convo is moot, yes?

I always thought the idea of "before" and "after" pics was that "after" was better than "before". This does not appear to be the case here, where we have atrocious followed by terrible.
