My first Panerai

Hello fellow watch enthusiasts, Happy New Year.

I decided to give Panerai a try since my collection over the past 4 years was purely Rolex. I was not sure how a 44mm watch would look like on my wrist at first. Once I tried it on, surprisingly it did not look that big at all. I'm a fan of GMT and "sportier" looking watches as well. I don't wear leather strap as I sweat a lot when temperature is warm to hot and had to replace the leather strap on my old watches. In addition, I like the weight and solid feel of bracelets.

Decided to pull the trigger on a 297 which I rarely see people discussing here on the forum. So far I'm happy to report that it's -1 second each day last 2 days and the lume is very pretty at night as well.

Let me know what you think!

Congrats! It is very nice. I am partial to the PAM bracelets, although I prefer the older style.

It's funny how this watch makes my 40 MM Rolex looks like the 36 mm DJ I once had and I sold the DJ because it was too small when compared to the Sub/SD/GMT I have...

Tried it and it really makes it look like a different watch. The quick bracelet/strap change system is one thing that Panerai outshines my favorite Rolex line up. The watch does feel top heavy without the bracelet as "counterweight".

Will post a picture soon with the Rubber...

I like it! I can't decide between 297, 329 or a Destro 123
