AP ROO 44 SS for a Rolex 218238?

I just bought my grail watch last month. It's a Rolex YG DD II 218238 with ivory dial. I haven't even worn it yet, but I'm already considering swapping it for the AP ROO 44 stainless with panda face. I love the AP. However, I find it a little uncomfortable on my wrist. My question is: do you think the AP 44 will go out of style? I trade up watch's frequently and I'm concerned the large size of the AP will make it unattractive to many in the future.

My friends think I'm nuts for considering getting rid of the President for the AP. My wife thinks I have a sickness since as soon as I obtain a watch, I'm already thinking about the next one.

I would never consider someone being nuts for swapping a DD for an AP. Just do it. AP is at another level!!!

Style was a poor choice of words on my part. I actually meant the 44mm size. Large watches are in-vogue but will we all laugh at them in 10 years? That's my concern.

I would say AP's are kind of fashion watches. they're always changing, and I can't see people wearing a "bumblebee" as much as a DD in 20 years.

Check back with me in 20 yrs (if I'm still alive). I'll still be rocking my DD2 and BB.

That's a nice pair. 2 completely different watches that cover just about any occasion.

Listen to your wife ;-)

Let's face it, the AP is a more interesting watch. As much as I like Rolex and have used them for over 15 years, it is not that exciting to own a watch is mass produced, regardless how good the quality is, and that you can buy at any mall in America or city in the world.

Your call, I estimate that you will get tired of the AP.

If you're talking about a Sub, GMT, or another very common Rolex model, I'd recommend trading for the AP. However a YG DD2 is not something you see regularly. I'd keep the DD2 and save for the AP.

You sound like me and your wife sounds like my wife... I love my 44mm and it's very comfy. I'm actually thinking of selling my WG Daytonda (Meteorite dial) for another AP ROO.
As for your dilemma... why would you get a watch that's not comfy to you?

Great question and you're right that it sounds odd. I guess for the same reason that women walk in christian louboutin heels. I'll suffer uncomfort because I love how it looks.

Will the potential ROO be worn everyday or part of a rotation? Buying a piece at that level which you find uncomfortable seems silly for an everyday piece when there are so many great models in the highend arena. However, I can understand your feedback/idea if its only going to be worn here or there... Only one guys opinion and good luck!

I would wear it everyday. But I've gotten so much good feedback on this thread that I've made up my mind. So many strong opinions about AP. I'm thinking Ill keep the DD2. It's a good watch to give to one of my sons one day. And I'll buy an AP for everyday use now. I think I'll look into a diver since that's a bit more versatile than the 44. Thanks for the guidance guys.

That you find the AP uncomfortable would be a red flag for me. I am a big fan of the 44mm ROOs but if they were not comfortable I wouldn't own one.

Break out the DD and enjoy it!

As for the sickness, its normal around here

These two watches are on different ends of the spectrum. One is sporty and one is dressy. I personally would keep the YGDDII and save up for the SS AP ROO 44mm. Nothing wrong with these two watches and they are both having in a collection.
