So the gentlemen claims that watch is all Authentic, And no aftermarket parts.

I'm planning on purchasing it for $1,300 it's a 1969 model. I does not come with box or papers but he guarantees its Authentic.

I will go Rolex SC for an authentication check. At the same time can ask them for a quote if its due for servicing.

No comment on the price, I am a newbie myself.

looks ok, It looks like it has the caliber 1225 movement, which beats at 21,600 bph and seem to be in good condition

OP - You want to get the reference numbers, model/serial, to verify time period.

The ref numbers are on the case of the watch, you need to have the bracelet removed to view these.

Dial is much later , Luminova.

Watch seems to be in decent condition except for the bracelet (stretch) I'd offer 1100

A Date or Datejust with quickset and this type of dial will cost 1600 up to 2.5 K

The dials a redial or an aftermarket one. Rolex never made an oysterdate precision like that

The dial doesn't match that era. It's from a later model. The dial is authentic I believe. I've seen several...but this watch is a Frankenstein. Pass pass pass

Not technically a franken with service parts, however it's true that '69 Oysterdates never had such a dial. Would be better if the replacement dial were a stylistic match.

I'd pass if you want a "real" '60s Oysterdate.

I won't pay $1300 for it. You say "so what..." Well, Rolex is in the details. Bracelet isn't good, dial is wrong, and that's the reason I say it's not worth it. If you wanna plunk down $1300 go for it, but there are many other nice, original examples for sale.

Note to self: Never mod a Rolex unless you plan on keeping it for life. Rule of thumb is take the price of the mod ($500 dial) and subtract double from the going rate to get your total worth. So if you throw in a $500 dial you just devalued that watch by $1000.

(I made up that rule based on what I have seen.)

It's an attractive watch and no one will know that it is not an original Rolex dial, except you now, and all of these guys. If you want it and will keep it and love it, get it but everything on it is not original. It may be Rolex, but not original to the movement within the case. Most Rolex collectors wants everything to be original but that does not mean that this is a bad purchase, it's just not all original. It is a Rolex watch, but it is a compilation of Rolex parts.

My very favorite watch (in my avatar) I found out recently does not have the original dial and it was suggested that I get it redialed (back) to the original dial because it is such a collector's piece but I actually love the dial that is on it now so I'm just keeping it the way it is for now.

You have to decide what you want to do. Everyone here is correct, but you still have to make a decision on if you just want a watch that is a Rolex or if you want a Rolex that has all of its original parts.

You do realize that you have to wind that one every day, don't you? $1,300 is way on the high side for a Precision... IMO, anyway.

But.... I've changed the dial on my date from champagne tritium to the same dial is this one (though s/g) and it looks like a million.

These watches don't lose their value much more , olny with aftermarket parts. 1000 to 1100 would be appropiate.
