Icon20 Purchasing 16610 LV

I was checking out this pre-owned 16610LV with serial number D890### (I promised the seller to keep serial number to myself thus the ###) . It comes with papers from Chow Sang Sang Jewellery Co., LTD Hong Kong Dated 18 APR 2006 and the green plastic tag with the model and serial number.

With a loupe, I thoroughly checked the watch face, laser etching and all areas and everything looks legit. I haven’t checked the serial number between the lugs yet. I plan to do that when I return on Monday.

To this point my only concern is that I read somewhere in this forum about 16610LV Face Format. For this serial number it falls under Mark 6 which states … Round ‘O’ , ‘R’ in ‘Oyster’ aligned with end of left foot of ‘R’ in Rolex, ‘Between 28 & 32 Mins’, Pointed 4, From D358XXX December 2005 to Z261804 22 December 2006.

The watch face is consistent except the watch’s ‘R’ in ‘Oyster is aligned under the right foot of ‘R’ in Rolex.

Does this mean that this watch is NOT AUTHENTIC?

Thanks in advance.

btw..Last Month I bought a pre-owned GMTc from this same jeweler which I had authenticated (opened the case to check movement) by this AD from Nassau St, Princeton, NJ.

Post a pic if you can and the experts can give you an answer. If you can't, it boils down to whether or not you trust the seller.

Keep in mind that there will be variations to the fonts, dial, lettering lining up, etc from what you have read on the Internet. These are only general guidelines and not the gospel. Rolex does change fonts, dials, etc from time to time and they will use whatever dial is available in their inventory at the time the watch is assembled. Buy the seller. Get the watch checked out! Good luck and congrats!

You should post the pics on the watch out section. You might get the best response there.

It's within the 6k range. I believe that's the ave going rate for this model.

Looks like the lugs are short, but maybe it's the picture angle.

Why don't you authenticate this one like you did with the GMTc?

Again, thanks for all the responses.

The picture doesn't give justice to watch's condition.
Definitely, i will have the same deal as when i acquired my GMTc.
I have the seller put in writing 'money back guarantee if found not to be authentic or has after market parts' then go straight to the AD for authentication and also the AD gives me a printout of it's vital signs and explains the watch's current mechanical condition.

I think I'll be back tomorrow for another round of thorough inspection.

The least I can do is share my experiences to others out there planning to purchase a pre-owned watch.
** Go to as much Jewelers as you can. You'll get a better feeling of every seller..
You'll eventually find one that you'll feel comfortable dealing with. You'll be surprised on your experiences at the same time familiarizing youeself with the
target watch.
** Buy a 10 x 21mm loupe. Mine has LED and UV light. I got for $25 on ebay.
You'll be amazed how you can easily spot the imperfections.
** Spend as much time louping the watch. I spend at least an hour inspecting.
** Leave you emotions at home. Your excitement can times affect your proper
judgment.
** So you finally found your dream. Contact your AD and ask if they can
perform an authentication on the same day you are planning to buy the watch. Go straight to the AD after purchase. The AD charged me $65.
** By doing the above decreases being Faked.

The hunt is half the fun!

Btw... I love my GMTc. Surpringly very comfortable on my 6.5 wrist. My omega feels neglected since now he only gets minimal wrist-time

Thanks TRFers!!!

Well in many way a loupe can be a new Rolex watch owners worst enemy so be for- warned.

I fully agree with that! Especially if you have even mild OCD (as I do)!

Do you trust the seller?
I think you've done enough research and "Looping"...
Buy the Seller.

IF I ever had to do that much "research" on a watch I'D NEVER BUY IT. I just wouldn't personally enjoy it after all that work IMHO.

Good luck with your decision.

Finally got the watch and had it authenticated by an AD.

Thanks to all!
