Best Accountant Ever

I was just told to buy a Rolex with my tax refund. Actually the exact words were "Do the rolex....life is short and you only live once! Maybe a chick magnet?"

It's safe to say she gets it.

I dunno, Mike would tell me to use it to save to get something Gold, and I think the advise is sound. So it's likely gonna go into my "Rolex" fund for now. The 16610LV is calling, but I really need to diversify my collection. Three subs and no real dressy watch is kinda overkill.

Imho one can never have too many Submariners, and again imho the 16610LV could be your dressy watch.

When our meagre investment statements came in for tax time the 2% per annum pushed me over the edge to buy my lastest, the Sea-Dweller 16600. My Finance Minister (wife) even agreed, for the first time, and she too is an accountant. It's a miracle.

Lol, nice man. I told my wife what our return would be today and she said don't even think about another watch. To which I replied I'm not...yet :-)

Awesome for you! My wife does our taxes and, even though we will be receiving a nice refund, I don't see a Rolex in my near future.

I think I need the number of your accountant if he is getting you those type of refunds.

Mine tells me to buy a Timex after he does my return.

These days a Rolex is as good of an investment as any.

We rarely get a refund.

Wish mine would tell me that. But since my wife is my accountant, it will never happen.

Aaaaah tax refunds.....I remember those!

In France, income taxes aren't withheld - one pays income taxes in 3 installments the year after one earns the income. "Fun" the first year, but, after, you better remember to save.

I would certainly endorse this as a welcome change here in US!

Before retiring I would maximize the withholding made against my salary/bonus using my capital gains to owe a small bit each year - or defer large bonuses to January of following tax year, or stock options.

Whenever the IRS owed me anything I always thought about what else I could have done with that money the prior year.

Doesn't work when there is no withholding as in France as was described. In the us unless you can shift income from w2 income to cap gains or carried interest you are paying.
