Has this ever happened to you?
It's about 12:30AM.... I'm sleeping peacefully.... probably dreaming that I have learned photoshop and am posting terrible pictures in a thread about Jocke.. and all of a sudden: "CRASH! BOOM! BANG!" Some terribly loud noise wakes you up in a start!
Convinced the Martians are invading and currently breaking down my front door, I grab a weapon (something we don't discuss here on TRF) and do a room to room search; ready to pounce on and eliminate the three headed monsters that I'm sure are infiltrating my home.... Finally convinced there are actually no intruders and I'm not in any immediate danger, I start searching for the cause of whatever could have made such a terrible bang in my house, (with no obvious signs of damage). A few months ago the culprit was a very large tree branch that broke off right in front of my door. And tonight? A shaving mirror that fell from the wall of my shower, bounced around my bathtub a few laps, and finally came to rest. I swear, these "things that go bump in the night" keep waking me up.... I'm going to get a little dopey from lack of sleep.. |

You'd think those pesky Martians could have the decency to use your mirror without knocking it off the shower wall!

I think I remember you rebuilding the bathroom yourself a while ago?
Well, there you have it, just another proof that nail installing and Photoshopping isn't part of your knowledge. |

LOL!
Glad you didn't "shoot" the mirror Paul. I'm thinking of buying a house that needs it's roof replaced, care to do it for me Paul?

Similar incident recently Paul:
Early morning heard a loud banging noise that woke me. Walked out of the bedroom to see at the end of the hallway the lounge was missing, and hearing noises in the kitchen next to the lounge room. Thinking the thieves are still in the house I walk half asleep down the hall to the kitchen. No weapon, only me in my unmentionables still very much half asleep but trying to get ready for a fight, I stress trying to wake for a fight. Only to walk into the kitchen to see my wife there, she couldn't sleep. The lounge was taken by my daughter into her room as she had a friend sleeping over, and the banging was the dog in my daughters room wanting to get out. I didn't sleep well after this. |

You just know this is going to 'inspire' another photoshop from Jocke...

Ha! Happens to me all the time. Either the mirror or the caddy. Finally figured out that it happens when there's a big temperature change outside (shower is on an outside wall). So now we take them down & restick them during big changes.

Yes. Boy, you are jumpy. I periodically push the mirror against the wall to re-suction. Yet another part of household maintenance.

Oddly enough, yes it has. The mirror is now gone. But I still shave in the shower.

We had a loud crash in the house one night (while we were still awake) that had to have come from the kitchen. We rushed in there only to find nothing out of the ordinary. Not inside or outside that we could see. Really had us stumped.
Then a few months later, I was up on the ladder, trimming some branches that were encroaching on the house, when I saw where one of the corner tiles on a higher section of the roof had come loose and fallen about two feet onto a lower section ~ right over the kitchen. No ghost after all.

My shaving mirror falls about twice a year, always late at night. Why can't it fall at 2pm instead of 2am?

I don't shave in the shower, so there's no shaving mirror to fall down when Martians (or other aliens) use the shower.
But my wife informed me this morning that we have a family living above our bedroom - and we have a single family home. Fortunately, the exterminator is coming tomorrow. She will have him check the attic for any undesirables living up there.

Once in a while things will go bump in the night - usually one of the cats knocking something off a shelf or a table. I once awoke to a crash in the night that sounded like something hit the house complete with the sound of breaking glass. I found out what it was.. the storm door had not latched properly and the wind got under it and it slammed against the railing, breaking the glass. No more storm door.

The EXACT thing happened in our walk-in tiled shower. The damage was 2 cracked tiles that you luckily didn't suffer.
I, too, grabbed something we don't discuss - heart pounding and wishing for SEAL four-tube night vision goggles Never found a thing till next AM as I stepped into shower...
