Closed the deal!

Well, I answered an ad on craigslist for an "L" serial GMT coke dial.
Original owner, all paperwork boxes and hang tags.
Watch looks like a 2 year old casually worn piece that's been we'll taken care of.
Not to bad for a 23 year old watch. I asked when he last had it serviced and polished/brushed and he said........never.
All original and keeps awesome time.
He only brings it out on special occasions.

His asking price was 4250.00 and he's been pretty firm.
Been working him for about 2 weeks and he finally broke.
I pick it up tomorrow for 3650.00

A good deal I hope!

I'll post pics as soon as I can:)

Always been curious about buying watches off Craigslist...the price seems like a deal to me. Share pics when you get it

The guy is a reputable business man 2 hours from me. I wouldn't do a deal on craigslist where shipping would be involved

Man you have got balls that clank to buy a Rolex off craigslist.

I personally would never do it, either sell or buy from there.

But I am glad it worked out for you. Looking forward to the pics and congratulations!

I'd still have it checked out just for piece of mind though.
Congrats in advance!

I bought a tag aquagraph on CL. You just have to be very careful. Meet at an AD to look at the watch they are selling go from there. I don't see a problem. Never deal via mail only person to person public place!

Pretty firm on the price, to 14% off would make me nervous.

Get this checked brother. Better safe than sorry.

Meeting at noon today to crack the back and authenticate at the local jeweller. Unfortunately the only AD on the island is 4 hours south of where the watch is located.
If there is any indication that this isn't the real deal I will run.

BTW, when did the etched crown first make its appearance?
Was it after 2002?
Anyone?

Thats a very good deal. Best of luck. I'm no expert, but as far as laser etched crown, I believe you are correct in that it first started appearing around 2001-02. Obviously an L would never have the LEC, unless it had a service replacement crystal, in which case there would be an "S" etched into round part of the crown.

Hope you're paying by a means in which you have recourse, and hope that it's a provisional buy based on getting it checked out by a Rolex person.

I love Craigslist for electronics, I'm sure if you're careful it'll be fine and that is a great deal!
