going nuts with itchiness...
So I have been saving up for quite a while for a Rolex andbetween that time I got engaged, fortunately married, then moved across the country with a new job from (NC to Cali), so the savings have been slower than expected.
I keep thinking that 4 years ago I was offered a heck of a discount at Jared and held off because I wanted to pay cash even though they offered zero interest about a month later Jared lost their AD status...... Anyways I'm free and clear financially and on Friday I will finally hit my budget goals where I can easily pay cash for my first self-funded Rolex and not worry about a thing. I was even tempted to do a down payment last month but I told myself whats one more month... Well its felt like a very very long month. My wife just got me a watch box with my initials engraved on the glass on top and there is a spot missing for my future incoming watch. I keep going back and forth on what to get because this one will be with me forever. I have my heart set on the blue stick dial DJII but for some reason i keep looking at the roman numeral DJII. What a tough decision! Sorry just had to vent cause Friday seems like an eternity |

Its between the smooth bezeled blue stick dial DJII but for some reason i keep looking at the roman numeral DJII. Im afraid that the stick dials are so large that the patina it may develop may not look as nice as in other watches like you see in a sub. I think the small round yellowish looks nice in older subs.

I love the Roman dial. The stick makes the watch sportier - which isn't a bad thing.

Looking at the posts above I can see I'm going against the tide, but I actually quite like the sticks on the blue dialled DJII.
That said, carry on Roman lovers.... |

There is a whole thread on DJII's in here recently, I was recently faced with a similar decision and I went with black stick. The blue looks stunning too:

Congrats on reaching that goal in spite of the higher cost of living you're having to cover after the move from NC.
This will be a big decision for your first Rolex, it being a lifetime keeper. You want to ask yourself where you will wear it the most (business & formal settings or casual/sport). And get some input from that supportive spouse of yours! BTW, on the sticks becoming unattractive over time due to aging lume creating patina - the luminova doesn't do this. And if it did discolor, this can easily be handled by RSC since the luminova compound can be refreshed. The tritium dials that you are probably seeing as "patina-rich" are not able to be refreshed since tritium is no longer used.

Both blues look great.
I initially was drawn to the sticks, but lately it's the romans. |

Congratulations on the budget and upcoming purchase. And since you asked I as do many prefer the roman numeral version but you are the one wearing it so get what sings to you!

Sticks give the watch dial a simple classic look uncluttered . Romans belong on clock walls.
