New LV for 2008?

I was reading up on the new GMT II-C and came across this article.

http://www.rolexreferencepage.com/articles/5.html

What caught my attention was this line...

"James Dowling, TZ Rolex Forum moderator recently visited Rolex SA in Geneva and asked if Rolex planned to make a ceramic bezel in the classic red and blue color configuration. Apparently, Rolex has successfully manufactured a green ceramic bezel, but not a red one - they're still working on the problem."

If they succeeded in creating a green ceramic bezel, that seems to be a good indication that the LV will continue in a new design.

I believe that right now we are facing a transition period. Rolex is going to upgrade all of it's watches. This year and maybe the next one are going to be the most controversial ones

I'm close to pulling the trigger on a TT Blue sub before the price increase, but if they are releasing new models in 2008...maybe I should wait. And if they release a new LV with green ceramic, polished center links and new clasp...the temptation to upgrade will be strong.

I think you're right. Rolex is in the process of upgrading the line. We seem to be on the cusp of exciting times.

It's a designation used by WISers. It means ceramic to distinguish between the older GMT II 16710. It's not something Rolex uses.

Good call Frostie, I happen to agree. I bought my Pepsi last March before Basel 2007, since I was worried about (1) the reported price hike in Canada for 2007, and (2) changes that would drive the price of the model I wanted up. I had already seen the TT and all-gold GMT II re-modling, so the scuttlebutt about a new SS GMT seemed all too possible, and it was.

That said, I rather like the TT Blue SUb as it is, not so keen on the ceramic bezels and would be quite content with the current Blue TT Sub, warts (lesser clasp, no Parachom Bleu hairspring) and all.

Four more months...........

Didn't you already order the GMTIIc? Still waiting on it?

I agree 100%, that ROLEX will be updating all of its sports models within the next couple of years. I can't wait to see what comes next, in the Maxi Ceramic revolution.

I'll have my eye on Blusey Ceramic. :)

I am still waiting cause and i haven't ordered one in case that i change my mind. I am planing to buy it after basel cause i want first to see the new models and after that make my last decision on which one to buy. Until now the watch that thrills me the most is the GMT II C

Good choice!

Are the GMTIIc's SS readily available in your country, or are they hard to find at the AD?

Well Rolex Hellas SA. is the main dealership that covers whole greece. They had a shortage of GMT II C's but they ordered more watches. Right now they are easy to find and the price is 5500 euros for the SS version.

If they update the LV AND the regular Submariner, I might just switch back to the black bezel version, especially if the case and bracelet are upgraded in addition to getting the Maxi dial. It does sound like there might be some excitement this year with changes to the submariner.

Interesting speculation!

We're gonna have to wait and see what happens at the Basel World Fair in April 2008.

If this Rolex revolution does take place, I'd like to grab one of the last TT blue Subs PRIOR to the ceramic. One of the very few made with the aluminum bezel and the CRB...

Also, can't wait to see the Daytona with its ceramic bezel... (Though I suppose they COULD do it.)
