I seem to vaguely remember you having asked that question before?? Anywat, if you mean the predecessor GMT II's (16710), then no they won't become collector's items anytime soon. There have simply been made too many of them.

Same thing applies to the TT (Two-Tone) Blue Sub, I'm afraid. Just TOO many of them out there.

To name a few:

SS Daytonas (both new and old ones)
Doublered Sea-Dweller
Milgauss (especially the old ones)
Red Sub 1680
5513 Subs (also the COSC rated 5512 of course)
Sub 14060M (some say it will become collectible, too).

The Rolex Submariner 14060M is the Sub WITHOUT date feature and without COSC (chronometer) rating:

This year, the 14060M got COSC rated, and received the corresponding (more) text on the dial:

I'm going to disagree with the rest of the crowd..

I believe that the discontinued GMT is now, and will become even more "collectible".

Compared to other references, it (16710) has not been made in overwhelming numbers. All the early GMT's are already on most Rolex collectors lists to have..

The history of the GMT as we have known it since 1954, is one of the richest Rolex has.. That history, and distinctive look, defines the watches produced from the original 1954 pepsi through the 2007 "Z" model 16710....and stops there..

That's like asking what the stock market is going to do tomorrow. If I knew, I'd be rich...

Just because someone agrees with you doesn't mean it's true.

Exactly. How many of these watches did Rolex produce? Methinks hundred of thousands over the years..........
Hardly gonna be collectable in our lifetimes.

10 years? I'm willing to put money against that. They're still being sold in AD's for christ sakes.

As afraid as so many people here are about wearing their watches, in 10 years, the market will be flooded with many unused "classics"....

The jury's out on this one and time will tell.

Please try not to start another identical post to this one again. I thought it was Groundhog Day when I read it again.
