I had a few questions for the more seasoned Forged Carbon owners:

1. what can damage FC? or what's the easiest way to damage an FC case?

2. how easily does FC scratch? what kind of metal can scratch it? I know the grain disguises it but how soft is the surface/susceptible is it to any scratches?

3. can any light surface scratches be buffed? resurfaced?

Carbon is hard as heck and really tough to scratch. BUT the carbon fibers are there internally to give the material strength. The plastic resin binder is there doing all the work. Its just plastic and it will get dinged up. The good news is that the pattern and grain hide scratches quite well and also don't look bad even if you do see them.

I don't know of any way to repair or polish carbon fiber. You'd have to somehow add molten plastic over the scratch and then machine it back to flush and you would never get the molded finish to match.

Think of carbon fiber as concrete with rebar in it. Example. Concrete is pretty brittle and will chip and crack easily. You can put it under a ton of pressure but it has no strength in tension or twist. This is like plastic.

Ever see the highway guys building a bridge pouring concrete over these steel skeletons? That steel is rebar, or reinforcing bar. The little ribs on it help it stay secure in the concrete. The steel bar is like the carbon fiber. It adds an internal skeleton of strength.

Now when the concrete hardens around the rebar you get a COMPOSITE material. Composite just means made of two different materials together. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich is a composite material.

Same goes for repair. Ever see a guy with a trowel try and fix a crack or hole in concrete? The repair always looks horrible doesn't it?

Honestly carbon fiber IS pretty hard so I wouldn't worry.

Haha I def don't worry about my FCs. I've partied at huge concerts, been to big college football games and been generally rowdy with it without missing a beat. I just don't want to push the envelope! Haha.

It would need a hard impact to break, And then it's a replacement case.

Regarding scratches the marbled FC don't show them that easily.

Normal casual wear...youll be fine..it will take a knock better than SS without signs of damage... but if your contemplating rock climing ... i'd think twice !!

I wear it all the time, the best test is the rough housing I do with my 3+ year old son and the watch is still ok, enjoy it!
