Are you members of other forums?

I am sure that most of you must have other interests as well as your interest in Rolex. What other forums are you members of - if at all? I will make a start: I am also a member of a boating forum as well as a classic vehicle forum* (but I have to say that out of the three I enjoy TRF the most!)

*I do not own a megayacht or a Ferrari Daytona although they would be nice...

It's a car forum dedicated mostly to Porsche but has many sub-forums for all types of sports cars. The site also has active sub-forums for watches, wines, cigars, etc.

Very good question! Well, I'm a member of MacRumors, and a member of two veteran mail groups. I used to be an active member on some flight jacket forums but that was some time ago.

www.stovebolt.com forum dedicated to old Chevy trucks.
www.Advrider.com forum dedicated to traveling on motorcycles and dual sport motorcycles
similar to www.horizonslimited.com but without the pretentiousness and with a really great section for photos.
www.thumpertalk.com forum dedicated to single cylinder dirt-bikes and dual sports.

If I wasn't a member of another forum, I wouldn't have met Lisa a few years ago.

Also, I met JJ somewhere else. He brought me here. So blame him

I never knew they existed until I found TRF. Considering how this place has taken a hold on me I'm afraid to check into any others.

I probably visit TRF the most, but I also goto the following...

nikonians.org
dpreview.com
e46fanatics.com
alberni.ca

I use to visit the Palm forums, but that has been years ago.

I am the co-owner of another watch forum, so I spend most of my time there. (wristwatchforums.com)
I also lurk and occasionally post on WUS, TZ and Uncle AJ's forum.
Most of my time is spent on WWF (my forum), and TRF (here).

I used to participate in a scuba diving forum, but there was a lot of ego clashing going on there so I finally gave up on it. I don't think the forum was moderated and sometimes there would practically be death threats flying back and forth. Yikes!

I drop in on a couple of other non-Rolex watch forums from time to time. One is not very user friendly and only moderately active at best. The other one is friendlier but literally days can go by without a single new post, much less a new thread.

TRF's got it going on.

To add to my earlier post, everyone this forum is really nice. Many people on other forums I visit (mostly computer and photography related) are often crude and rude. It's so refreshing here! Thank you everyone!

I hear ya, Lisa. I joined a Canon photography forum but apart from a couple of knowledgable guys who were generous enough to share their knowhow, the rest of the members were pretty closed to noobs. These days I browse a bit bit I don't post there anymore.

The Leica forum on dpreview is ridiculous. Every other post is "Why did you spend $5000 on a camera and $ $3000 on a lens and your pictures are still crap?"
It's like someone coming here and saying "Well my $29 casio tells time too why did you spend $XXXXX thousand on a Rolex."

Yeah, some forums seem to have a "experts only" mentality and they end up discouraging new members.

I belong to two other forums:

1. Askandyaboutclothes.com
2. thefedoralounge.com

But I swear it doesn't mean anything to me and I'm thinking about TRF the whole time I'm doing it.

The Nikon and Canon section on DPReview is constantly full of bashing. It gets tedious going through the posts to find a thread that is actually useful.

Anyway, I am a member of another (German) watch forum, but I don't post much there. I also join two forums for pipe smokers and one for flashlights.

I joined a Nissan forum just to try and troubleshoot the gremlins living in my car's electrical system, but I haven't even checked it in weeks. TRF is the one I'm totally hooked on. Never been on any others and have no interest in doing so!

Of all these, guess which one I spend the most time on....?? On camera forums, the DPReview forum is a perpetual catfight and I avoid it, except to read. The DCResource forum is much more friendly with a fairly active Canon and Nikon membership. For those looking for a more friendly photography forum, you might give them a gander.

This is the only one. TRF meets all of life's (forum) needs.

I used to spend a lot of time on a prosecutor/crim law forum contained in a prosecutor resources website. I still check it occasionally, but I haven't posted there in nearly a year.

I also go to a bunch of other forums but none worth mentioning as above.
