All I want for New Year is a brand new home!!
That' right, guys. Unfortunately, I've become a victim of the "leaky building syndrome" prevailent in a few countries around the world.
The good news is that about 65% of our complex has been completed (work commenced on 1st May 07).....and I've now been shunted out of my unit last week. This is my temporary abode....only the corner one on the ground floor! These are pics of the units in my line of units. These should be ready for occupancy by mid or 3rd week of Jan. And here are my block of units. They have started work on the back. This is the front section. I'm in unit # 60!! This is the back of my unit all ripped open.... New beam has just replaced a very water-logged and rotted one... My lounge, carpet all screwed up with moisture and water seepage - so I get a brand new carpet!! My kitchen counter... Upstairs master bedroom.....new carpet coming here too!!

=)) good for you to have new home with A grade materials inside. It s interesting you buy a home with working, but we buy a house with earning money from buying 3 houses and selling them. Here if you keep good time to buy a house or land as my dad does when it comes crowded you will get automatically 3 times you pay in your pocket or you may loose too depending on supply and demand and changes at strenght of peoples' buying. You live in a country to work for live life I live in a country that investment and business is necessary to live life.

Just came home from a get together before New Years Eve JJ. Hope the house rebuild goes well! Nothing like "Home Sweet Home".
My home is only about 5 years old and the roofer did not correctly install the shingles in the area of my son's closet. That part of the roof was leaking water slowly into the closet framing area - it was a bitch to fix since warranty was over. Nevertheless fixed. I somehow know how you feel esp with water damage and leakage.

Thanks, Vernon. In our case, the whole place was leaking. Poor outer cladding, untreated timber and terrible workmanship.
The good news is that we now have a team of very professional guys sorting it all out!!

At our new house, the bulk of repairs had to do with water damage. The previous owners had let a leaky roof go for years and we had lots and lots of damage - much of which was hidden away under wallpaper and revealed when we stripped it off. I hope when all the work at your place is completed it'll feel like a brand new home with no more worries, JJ! |

Thanks, Elaine. More than 60% of the complex has been finished since May 07.
Another 5 or 6 months and we should be all done. I expect to move back into my unit # 60 (see pic above) by 3rd week of Feb. hopefully!!

Let this be a lesson to you, JJ - when the sign says "Max capacity 80 sheep", don't go overloading the structure!

JJ's homeless...but he has two Rolex watches. He won't sell either of them so Zemina can eat. He has a new computer as well.
Typical of a homeless person

Hopefully, I can still afford to hang on to both my Rollies before we get the final bill in June 08!! The good thing, of course, is I'm completely debt free which is a great help!!

What happened to proper workmanship? I bought a new house, too, and the mistakes were horrible - but at least I didn't get kicked out while they repaired them. Better luck in /08, JJ!
