Should I buy another SEA DWELLER?
hi folks,
I bought one brand new SD about 2 weeks ago. I love this watch so much that I wanna have one more. I got close to$5K sitting in my toy account and I have just realized the fact that I need to STB, (Screw The Bank) ... why the hell is my $$ sitting in a bank and the freakin bank is using it ... screw them .... so I rather turn my $5K into something tangible tan just a number on a freakin receipt .... so what best way to tangibilize your cash tan buying a rollie .... so I wanna buy one more SD .... Now should I wait a few months and then buy it or fearing a price increase, just do it now? Will i lose out on any advances on the SD development if i strike too quick .... I mean I already got one SD .... thnx |

If it were me I would do it now before the price increase.

To me, a VERY silly idea. Maybe the worst watch purchase decision idea I've ever read about.
Sorry, but you asked right. With so many wonderful watches out there (Rolex and others) why would you buy a dupe of what you already own? You need to think this over and let the $5K sit for awhile. Think about a dressier watch or another tool watch. Maybe wait to see what improvements are made to this and other Rolex watches this year. Seriously, I appreciate your excitement, but don't buy these watches on an impulse (if you can help it). Make a plan about what you would like to own long-term and execute on that as the time comes. My two cents. |

Buy what you like, but I would put my money into a different model. If you just recently purchased your SD, you are excited about it, and you should be. I can tell you though, the excitement will pass and you'll want something different. I'm all for having several Rolex's, but I don't have any doubles. Take a trip to the AD and see if anything else trips your trigger. JMO. It's your money................ Have fun with it !!

I wouldn't do it if I were you.
Put the $5k in savings and get $300 a year interest.

You could invest it in something that is liquid and will bring you a financial return and you won't have to look over your shoulder every time you go to Wal-mart..

In my oppinion, you have to wait, because the all new Rolex Sea Dweller with the ceramic bezel and the 3136 macchine with the parachrom is coming soon with the new submariner ceramic.
In other way if you buy a SD, Z series, and don't want to wait the new one that will be a little more expensive, I reccomend you buy the other one in Mseries with the rolex, rolex, rolexn the ring. It would be a differenr piece. |

If I had lots of money I would have lots of Sea Dwellers as it is my favourite watch. I actually did what you are thinking of doing in 1990 but I sold the second one soon after and got a TT black Sub, then a Sub Date and a GMT2. Once you've got all the watches you want with the plenty of money you are going to make then start buying 2nd examples of your favourite watches.

Well, I'm certainly not opposed to have multiples of the same reference. LOL! But,.. I would probably wait till after Bazel on the chance something more interesting might come out.
It seems we are seeing a change in the sports models, and while I certainly have no idea what might be next I'd be interested to see before commiting. |

I think you should consider yourself very lucky to have a "toy account". I can't think of any reason why you would want two identical watches?

I was currently attracted to the older GMT Pepsi because it had nice blue/red colors but then they guy was charging me about $3800 for it .... so I said to myself if i put in another 1K, I get another badd ass watch, the SD .... I guess if I have 2 SDs, then I will feel better about wearing my first SD ...so in short, I got issues!! |

Watches are never logical decisions, if they were then everyone would own a digital timex.
These are emotional and impulsive decisions. Heck, it's your money. An SD is a beautiful watch. The way the dollar has been depreciating it appears that a rolex may be one of the smartest investments. You want it, buy it. I'm jealous. Good luck.

Why not expand your collection? Rather than buying an identical second watch, I'd recommend getting something distinctively different. That's why I bought my white dial Exp II.

You could buy it, and let me wear it, until you need it.

You should buy a COSC 14060M with that dough. If the Sub and SD go carbon and maxi, the COSC 14060M will be a rare bird indeed.
Or just buy 7 shares of Google and actually make some money. |

I'm not one who wants to stand in the way of a person's happiness. So if you feel like you need another SD, go right ahead and purchase it, if it is within your means.

Is it just me or was the whole Walmart post and this one nothing more than attention seeking.
How many here have had a so called hood spot their watch and then stalk them up the chilled food aisle? And wanting the same watch again. I am at the point of using profanities here, GET A LIFE. If your $5000 is burning a hole then do something good with it and give it to charity. f |
