Questions about dirt!

Hey, my watch gets oily everyday. I'm not doing anything special, but still it's something that makes the watch look dirty (the sapphire and bezel is covered with a fat, oily, surface)
Maybe it sounds worse than it is, but when I look at people's wristshots the watches look very clean.

My second question is, I have a 116710 and I want to clean it, but I'm not sure what it can take. Some people say avoid soap, some say water is not enough. What is perfect treatment to keep it clean and nice?

And finally, I've ordered these cape cod cloths to polish the middle-links on my GMT. Do you have any result pics? Anyone who have tried this out?
Is there any how-to-do-guide here?

+1 on the varet. I usually give my watch a good rinse then brush with a very soft toothbrush and Dawn dishsoap (removes grease) quick pat dry then a full spray with varet, brush real good paying special attention to the bracelet, rinse and dry with a microfiber cloth. It sounds a lot more involved that it really is. Takes 4 - 5 minutes, I consider it a labor of love! I do this generally twice a week.
As far as the great wrist shots I'm sure that most do as I do when taking that kind of picture, a good scrubbing just before the pic so that it's a good shot.

PS When scrubbing the bracelet with the brush I always try to go "with the grain" of the finish.

Well the oily stuff is allll you. Haha as gross as it sounds maybe try a diet change? Do you sweat a lot?

Mild soap and water is what Rolex recommends. A Rolex GMT Master, as long as it has been pressure tested, is umm, quite robust. Why else did you buy it? It's an Oyster!

As stated...mild dish soap and water and then I use an old toothbrush for scrubbing. Many will recommend you do this on a weekly basis so do it once a week. Then daily just wipe it clean since you leave body oil all over it.....

This is my exact routine. I generally do it 2 times a week as well.

Nothing wrong with soap and water and that's what Rolex recommends to clean any oyster watch been washing my watches with plain soap and water for over 30 years.

Have to agree with Padi. Soap and water is fine, nothing fancy needed.

I never showered with my watch on, now I do. So when I get cleaned so does my DD. I'm not worrying about that old soap build up bull crap.

Soap and water in the shower once every couple of weeks or whenever I remember. I wear mine in rotation so it doesnt get very dirty.
