Basel 2014

Now that this year's fuss is all over, any thoughts on next year's new releases? Too soon...?!!

Never too early to hope for a pepsi bezel especially since we now know they can make 2 tone ceramic bezels. FYI rolex now has an FB page

I feel like they knew sales wouldn't be "booming" for this one due to it's price tag... I don't know if the color combo was that much of a deal breaker at a 70K price tag... Lol

I think Rolex has jumped on the wrong bandwagon and I fear that they won't be introducing any watches that will pique my interest and also fit my budget.

I'm just glad I have the ones I have.

Sadly, I have to agree. I'm much happier with the offerings from Tudor lately.

Steel SkyDweller now that they've set a precedent with the YMII.

Probably a two tone first, if they're going to do it.

I did not care for the SkyDweller at first but now I have to admit that it's growing on me. Would be nice to have a somewhat more affordable version.

The cheapening of a high complication starts at releasing it in steel
Should never have done it

If they do that to the dweller they will piss off the WG owners since not a lot to differentiate

Read: high complication not just any regular model

I agree, Will. Which is why I hope they never release the DD/DD2 and SkD models in SS. However, the decision to debase a movement has more to do with model line vs complicated movement. Although the YM2 movement is quite exceptional, the watch is purported to be a sports watch so a SS model makes sense. Besides, the YMI was (mostly) steel as well.

I think higher complications shouldn't be released in SS
Ym2 they differentiate with the bezel from SS to WG
I still am not sure I like the idea of an affordable Rolex high complication
Don't take me wrong, SS ym2 is awesome but I feel it shouldn't have happened

If they released the DD or SkyD in steel it would be a travesty

I do see your point in the sport model line extension though

all i know is, with the mastering of the bi-color bezel, the calls for coke or pepsi GMTs will be absolutely DEAFENING on the forum.

Let's get this going again!!!!

- FOR ONE, I personally love the the platinum daytona from Basel '13 after seeing it in the metal. Price wise I'd still choose a SS Daytona and a Patek 5070 bundled hahaha.
- The BLNR in the metal is far less attractive then in the photos (sorry for those that love it, to each their own!)
- As for Basel 2014..it is the 60th anniversary of the awesome 6542 bakelite...and doing a ceramic Pepsi actually make sense. And rolex listened to us with the new sunburst blue dial on the 116613..so we can still hope.
- I'm definitely thinking white gold daytona if they do another daytona this year...not brown and ice blue (obviously because it's not platinum). Fingers crossed...then maybe 2015 TT..then 2016 SS....that would be swell.

Anywho let's get some ideas going! I'm stoked. I'm also excited for Patek's 175th.

I'm calling it... Perhaps not in 2014, but if there is a Pepsi-C or Coke-C, it will be in WHITE GOLD.

Ceramic Coke, I sure hope. But , the way things have been "trending", most likely some 42+mm "reincarnation" of a classic.
