Air King, Sea Dweller, Sub Mariner, Explorer I & II, GMT Master, DJ, DD & Daytona all conjure up not only the history of the brand but also the vast array of the watches that will suit all folks.

Don't forget Speed-King and Space-Dweller even though neither name really suited with their respective model.

I guess great minds think alike LOL

I'd have to say the Air King is my favourite name, followed by the Daytona, and a close third is the Submariner. There you go, Air, Land, and Sea, all ruled by Rolex Warriors!!

Well, maybe not so mysterious and exotic as one should think.

The Milgauss name is just a contraction of "mille" (French for 1,000) and "Gauss", the German physician who did scientific research of the influence of magnetic fields.

IMHO, the "Air-King" designation is more mysterious to me. Since what has that fairly simple model got to do wit "air" whatsoever??

In a way, the GMT II should have been namen Air-King, IMHO, since it is a watch that pilots often use.

Oh, btw.: "Cosmograph" is yet another interesting name. It derives from Greek "cosmos" (world) and "graphein" (write), meaning basically "World writer" - i.e. one who explors/describes the world (Velitsko, you're from Greece, so correct any spelling mistakes).

Interestingly, the Russian astronauts are called cosmonauts and not astronauts, at least some years back.

The history is very interesting, but as someone who knew virtually NOTHING about Rolex watches, or the 'Rolex World' a mere 5 weeks, it's very cool.

Rolex is related to time keeping. The most appropriate name should be GMT-Master.

Master of time.

You have a point there. I think Rolex should introduce a new model called the "Time Lord".

No contest. It has to be Al's Ultra Cool Sophisticated Two Tone Black Dial Submariner As Opposed To All Those Lame Wannabe Blue Dial Two Tone Submariners. And I'm pretty sure that will all fit on a Rolex dial.

No, I think Frogman is the most appropriate name for the watch than Sumariner. As you know, sumariner stay inside a submarine. They didn't even get wet. But, the frogeman has to expose under water.
