The things I love MOST about my beloved Platty!!

Hi guys,

A few things about Platty that set my pulse pounding and my blood racing through my veins!!

1. Top Priority - the Platinum DIAL - always wanted a silver-dialed watch....and now have one in pure 950 grade Platinum!!

2. The solid Platinum bezel and Platinum insert with those RAISED numbers - very attractive, very classy!!!

3. The maxi dial - not being too maxi and not being too standard at the same time.

4. The SOLID centre links on the SS Oysterlock bracelet - love their polished look too!!

5. The TRIPLOCK crown - easier to grip, easier to screwlock, suits the larger watch much better!!

6. The curved in lugs - very comfortable.

7. The sleeker case - only 12 mm thick - sits so much better on the wrist and gives the watch a more dressier look!!

8. The clasp - simple and yet so firm and secure. Love the tiny coronet on the flipover secure clasp.

9. The DATE - easy to read against a pure white background.

10. What a superb blend of SPORTS and DRESS all rolled into one!!

You can' go wrong with an SS/Pt. YM, guys!!

Hi JJ, Happy New Year.
Any chance you could be a bit more specific in your critique.

Yes, those are white gold, Paulie. Only the DIAL and entire bezel, including the bezel insert, are 950 grade Pt.

C'mon JJ, you know I just got Bluesy! Let's do one for Bluesy too, unless you did and I missed the post (send the link).

You failed to mention the red second hand, JJ.

Does that mean you are not a fan of it?

Yes, yes, yes.....I did think of that later on. The RED centre sweep and the red YACHT-MASTER printing is most fascinating.

I guess the red hand is made of WG and then painted over red? Is that right, Paul?

One should never mention "fan" and "JJ" in one and the same post.

JJ ... I tell ya, that watch makes me drool. I'll be lucky and more than blessed if I ever become a two-Rolex guy, but if so, that's the one I want. I was in the AD the other day and they had just gotten in the Platty YM. I couldn't wait to try it on, and WOW ... what a hunk of solid PLAT that is! It is absolutely stunning person!!

It's great to hear how much you enjoy this watch! Congrats!

Great write-up, JJ, and a helluva good-looking watch. The more I see it, the more I like it. I tried one on at an AD recently and, as good as your pics are, photos don't do it justice! That one's on the list!

Just showed your Platty to my girlfriend and she loves it. I said for the next Rolex it's got to be YM Platty or GMT IIc.

OK - don't shoot me JJ but, here's one of my Rolex wishes... Rolex should do the YM with a white dial and a white gold second hand (with red lume circle on white gold second hand)

Perfection!
