Hello, I just wanted to say that I've owned both so heres what I think. I love the YM hence my avatar. But the only reason why I like the GMTc better is because of the scratch proof ceramic, beefier case, and the NEW solid clasp. If I could get a YM with the GMTc clasp, I would get that anyday. Maybe I should get a YM and trade clasps and sell it the gmt with the YM clasp.
But anyways, they are 2 different watches. I really like the fact that the GMTs case is more like the Submariner and not rounded like the YM/daytona.
The YM does have a little more bling since is Platinum. I dont know its a very very hard choice I think.

Anyway, personally, I'd go for the SS GMT IIc, but both are winners, though.

Let me be a dissenter here - I like the YM because of it's sleeker case. It fits better on the wrist and the Platty is a very, very hot watch right now. I also love the thick hands and the luminescence of the dials in the dark - great watch for movie theaters.

Then again, I don't actually own a GMT. So take this for what it's worth......

The gmt2c is not yet available here in the Philippines. I got mine in thailand at a roleeex dealer at grand hyatt bangkok. I had to pay premium price for it. Even the big dealers in hk are having a hard time getting stocks. They are also selling it at a premium in hk. It really is a very nice watch!!!!!! Too bad rolex dealers in asia are making a killing overpricing this watch.

Both excellent watches and more or less similarly priced. Go with which ever one YOU like. Try them both on and see which one smiles back at you.

Hello BoyBoy,

I have to go with the GMIIc. Well, I already have I guess, since I did buy one, but I am somewhat objective.
I bought by wife a Platinum YM about two years ago, so I am familiar with the watch and, it's a great watch.

For me there were several deciding factors:
1) I travel a good bit and have friends in different time zzones so I do make use of the 24 hour hand and quick adjust features of the GMT IIc.

2) I like the heavier case and sense that it is more resistant (falsely perhaps) to knocks and bumps.

3) the new parachrom Blue hairspring is being touted as resulting in an even more accurate timepiece than its predacesors.

4) The Platy YM has a bit too much bling for me.

Of course all of these are very subjective, which is I guess why they make more than one style of watch.
Look 'em over, take a look at your budget and take the plunge.

I would pick the GMT IIc. But that's ME. You have to try both on and decide. For me, the GMT has all the latest Rolex updates, including the hairspring, which is more shock and magnetic resistant. Also the GMT is great for traveling. Good luck and let us know which one you decide.

I recently decided to get the GMT-IIc. But that being said, I think the YM in the ss/pt is an awesome watch. To me, the YM is more of a watch that goes with anything and everything, whereas I think the GMT-IIc, because of its black bezel and face, it more limited. The biggest difference for me is that the GMT-IIc is much less expensive than the YM. Tough call, but one where you can't go wrong.
