Measuring the Watch Case

Anyone know the standard way of measuring a watch case diameter? My SD measures all sorts of mm's with them bulky lugs and the crown gaurds etc...

Is it a Rolex? Wouldn't it be easier to look it up. Even if it isn't, most sites have their dimensions listed.

The watch is not measured including the crown guards.

Yes true - but I'm designing my own watch and need to know how they're measured to order parts etc.

The best way is to measure it from '8' to '2'.

Crown guards and crown should never be included in case measurements!!
