Just google 6538 or search this site :-) Very nice find indeed, even without the bezel and insert if all correct. M

A rare watch watch ....
...... and as I understand it, even more so with that text sequence (i.e. a 4-liner dial with 'SUBMARINER' at the bottom).
I could be wrong on that - am just an enthusiastic novice with regard to 6538's |

I bought it from a lady who said it was her dads. She said he got it sometime in the 50s. She sold it because, she has no relatives to leave it to. She know i collected watches.

that should be a very valuable watch, with a period bezel and insert a nice 4 liner starts at 40K minimum and up to mid 60's. that is just my own personal estimate as I have owned five or 6 with various quality dials in last twenty years :-) Congrats on a rad find. M

As you already know it is a 6538 you are steps ahead. It is in good shape (minus the missing bezel), did you have it polished as the case looks almost belmish free? Did the vendor give you any interesting history? Wear it well.
