Would I be crazy.....
to even consider trading my Daytona, say for 2 or 3 Rolex that I might really wear or want? A cool AK or SD maybe, perhaps a Lady DJ....
I pined and preened so much to get it, waited patiently, and now that I have, the tona' still takes a back seat to my beloved 16710! Is I Crazy?!?

I don't think it's crazy. What the heck are you going to do with a lady DJ though?

Thinking of getting my Wife on the Rollie Express! A Lady DJ would not be my personal style.

I say go for it, especially if the Daytona doesn't get much wrist time now.

Well, I have had a love/hate relationship to the Daytona for a long time. This is my forth Daytona, and I flipped the others for various reasons, but mostly because of the non-hacking second's feature on the predecessor Daytona and also due the the screw-down pushers that are not practical, at all, if you want to use the chronograph instantly.
But I will keep this 4th. SS Daytona since I probably won't get a 5th. one. If you don't like your Daytona, or at least are not giving it much wrist time, I would consider flipping it for models more desirable for you. After all, do you want to just wear hype on your wrist or do you want a watch that you actually are appreciating USING??

Is hard to find Daytona, the value is always goin' up too. Sell the Daytona more easy than if you wanna buy it. I think better you keep your Daytona, and buy that others Rolex (SD, AK and Lady DJ) one by one. Just my 2 cents.

If you like the Daytona at all, then I would keep it and wait to buy the other watches when you can. If you're in a financial situation where that doesn't seem likely to happen, then I would possibly consider selling the Daytona to finance the other watches. For me, there's no way I would ever get rid of a Daytona by my own choice. |

The Daytona seems to have a cult following, but there just aren't many folks out there wearing them.. I don't know why...
Let me say that I have several Chronographs...All of them nice....None of them are a Daytona...and I have no desire to get a Daytona.. It just isn't for everybody.. My view is that you should have a selection of watches that you love to wear and admire, and not to have "a" watch that you feel so-so about..

I think your right Larry. I had never tried a Daytona on until mine came in. I was obsessed about it until I put it on. It just didnt "smile" at me like it should. So now I have a brand new never worn Daytona with all of the plastics just sitting in the box collecting dust until I figure out if I really want to sell it or not. Dont get me wrong, the SS Daytona is beautiful, just not my style!

Gang,
As always, the feedback, advice, and support is great here! Your all an awesome group... I do enjoy the tona', but it sees very little wrist time. I like the tona' A LOT, nor I would not have bought it. It's that I just love my GMT, plain and simple. Wife gets involved today with the debate, as she is not keen on my even thinking of trading or selling anything. (Love that woman!) Funny, if this is the decision of the day, debating with wife and all, then I'm not doing too bad, am I? hehe...

This may be heresy here, but at this point in my Rolex purchasing career, the Daytona doesn't really do much for me, and I honestly don't see myself buying one in the future. So, no, I don't think it's crazy to want to sell one to finance other purchases. Do what makes you happy and buy what you will use. Anything else is a waste, IMO.

I don't think you're crazy at all. In fact I think it's crazier to own a watch that just sits in a box and gets no wrist time. Love what you wear and wear what you love!

I've got my TT Daytona and outside of work (construction superintendent) I only wear my Daytona. I think it is just an iconic racing watch (I am a huge motorsports fan, from F1 to NASCAR to Moto GP) so it is a perfect match to my personality.
I currently wear either a SS TAG Professional or my Breitling Ti Aerospace at work. Want to get a GMT IIc to replace those as my work watch....hmmm maybe a trip to my AD is in order. Steve |

You should get the watch and/or watch(es) that YOU want. Not the ones that everyone else likes or thinks is popular. The Daytona isn't for everyone, just like the Milgauss. If I could only wear 1 watch for the rest of my life, it would be the Sub. Be happy with what you have. Get what you want and want what you get. Be your own person. It's kind of like a Porsche 911 Turbo. I always wanted one and now I can afford it. I was ready to get it and...Oops, big problem...I am 6' 5" and 275 lbs. I tried to get in it and there is no way. Oh, well. I guess I'll never get to be one of the cool kids with a hot sports car. Now, I wouldn't want to get it just to get it. I'll have to "settle" for a Porsche Cayanne.
