Look what i found in my wifes sewing box! 14k gold pocket watch!
A pocket watch! 14k gold appearently...
Does anyone have a clue what kind of watch this is or if it's worth anything? I'll post a pic of it next to my sub so you can get a sense of its' size. It's working also. The sewing box is an inherited object and the watch seems to have been in the box when she got it. Maybe I should pick up sewing... Whaddaya think? Brand seems to be Ancre Spiral Breguet... |

Open the back some more and let's see the movement!

I'm guessing you could do it with your fingernails.

The back should "pop off" without too much fuss.

That does it. I'm going to check my wife's sewing box right now. Oh foo, she doesn't use a sewing box. Forget I said anything... Larry.

Ha! I also found an Oris alarm clock, not workning though, in the same sewing box!
I'll post pics of it and the movement of the pocket watch during the weekend. Sewing boxes rule! |

Look in the grandfather clock for spools of thread.
What does the inscription say? |

I think the inscription reads:
"Ancre Spiral Breguet Balancier Compensateur 15 rubis" The movement was as easily accessed as implied earlier in the thread. I just popped it up with my finger nail.Took some shots of it for you to see. I also took a few pics of the Oris alarm clock I found in the same sewing box. I'll take it to a watch maker to find out what it would cost to fix it. Hopefully, it will be worth it since I want to use it just because I find it so beautiful. |

Thanks for showing us that pretty movement. Maybe someone can enlighten us on its history now.

What a find, Hoff!
Can you have another look in that magic sewing box?? If you find a Milgauss GV, send it to me, please!
