I just noticed that all watches on Rolex's website are set to 10:10. Is there some significance to why they picked this time? ie. easy to see the writing on the face?

It's just to more easily display the dial.

I agree....it shows off the dial, but if you look, almost every watch brand displays that same time of 10:10, not just Rolex......it would be interesting if someone knew exactly why though.

Definitely not just Rolex. Another reason it looks good is because it's symmetrical and obscures less of the dial writing than just about any other position.

I keep all my watches that are not running at 8:20. Very traditional place to stop them Insofar as Rolex, it shows the watch better - nothing blocked.

I pull the crown out and photograph it like that, then push the crown back in digitally in photoshop.

As far as 10:10 and/or 10:08, it is done for several reasons.
1. symmetry. Our eye likes a balance of left and right.
2. Tends to allow the writing on the dial to come through.
3. Makes the watch look like a smile.
4. The hands take the shape of a chevron/check mark which is pretty much a universal symbol for "approved".

Every time I sold a watch I photographed it at 10:10.

I think that the reason, from photographer. And the smile watch is good reason too.

if the watch has a hacking function the movement will stop and the power reserve will not be used.

ERR that would be 9:15.

IMO Rolex only ever took one pix at 10:10 on the 28th etc....and photoshopped all the others.

Crap, I was waiting until the 28th for my first big post, I'm finally getting a digital camera that shoots macro next week, and everybody has the same idea...
