Icon17 What I tried I liked!! Basel 2013 Steak Timer

Always told myself if they brought out the Ultimate Steak Timer in SS I'd get it, might need to deliver on that promise

Few key takeaways
  • Light
  • Comfy case a la YM and Daytona = flat, south facing lugs. beautiful fit
  • Crispy clear dial
  • Fun
  • Useful comp, i'd actually use this. slight learning curve

UK RRP £12,500

I take it you're thinking about it...but haven't pulled the trigger.

Still need to see SS in person.....but agree with the case, lugs and fit of the YM II - even in gold.

But just cannot get past the price tag.

yeah , the price.... might be better of a discount after it cools down after a while? either way its getting to close to gold models for pricing.

I'd get the gold GMT first and wait for SS YM2 prices to come down or shoot for the YG YM2.

So weird with a Rolex with squared hour plots...

Luckily I haven't seen that one in person yet, that might be a very expensive encounter...

Never get the point of this watch it times ten minutes only - what's the point? Sub will time ten minutes for you and much more so will daytona and yachtmaster and turnograph etc - but why only time 1- 10 minutes ? Whatever for its totally pointless IMHO
Bezel and movement and "tough" reset button it's engineering a watch for doing the most pointless feature in watchmaking - dont mean to offend but the watch offends me. Smarter solution would be something like this countdown and have it countdown something useful like upto 60 minutes then I'd be into it and many others I'd imagine,

Beauty of this hobby is that no one will force you to buy one :) Each to their own. Personally I have never really thought too much about the complications of watches. If I like the look and how it feels on my wrist, and if it puts a smile on my face every time I put it on, well then it's worth every dime. JM2C

That Habring is cool but this is a "yacht" timer intended for yacht racing where a 10minute counter is useful. Yes, few if any yacht racers would be caught wearing one during races but the same holds true for many other models.

Richard and Maria make a great product and, more importantly, at a great price point. Kudos to them.

That said, many watch complications are "pointless" in today's world. To say one particular complication or watch "offends" you, well that's just... odd.

Beautiful looking watch but just a tad too big for my tastes..... Same as the Sky Dweller.....

But worth that much more than the GMTIIc or similar....? IMO....Not for the complication but probably based on looks ..... It's a cracking looking watch
