Another winding question

I got my watch about 3-4 weeks ago and I fully wound it that day (the only time I have winded the watch). I wear it everyday for @12 hours. Yesterday I sat at a desk all day (usually don't do that) and then took it off early to cut grass etc...when I put it on this morning it was like 3 hours behind and I didn't notice the time difference until I had let the dog out and was standing in the kitchen about to leave. It was running then. I fully wound it and its been good today.

So my ? is
1. Is it normal for the watch to stop after 3-4 weeks after winding it even though I wear it everyday although it had less activity yesterday?

No its a 26 year old datejust....bought it from jewelry store that gave me a 1 year warranty, They are not an AD, so I feel like they will tell me "you gotta wind it everyday"

Very well might need a service, do they have a service history on it? If not you might want to get it serviced regardless of the power reserve.

I wouldn't panic about it at this juncture, though perhaps the 3 hours slow thing sounds a bit odd. If you are relatively inactive then the days activity doesn't bring it all the way back up to where you wear at the start of the day. So everyday the reserve goes down little by little. It is very likely that it had slowly dwindled so when you did have a particularly idle day like just happened, it ran down.

When I get a new one I usually wind it fully and stick it in a drawer just to see how long the power reserve is good for. Say you find your watch runs for 48 hours. Wind it fully and check it after 42-44 hours and see if it's running slow. If you bought it new from an AD then you have plenty of time to get it repaired.

I usually will wind my wearer once a week just for GPs to top off the reserve. I rather enjoy a little interaction with my watch every now and then anyway.

Ot obvious you have had a serious paranormal experiance and have lost 3 hours in the process...never remove you watch again!

Seriously...Ive had ths happen to new and old...I wind mine fully every werkend after I give it its weekly wash nd brush up. So many factors at play here...its not about how long youvwear it but how active you are etc...it will be perfectly fine I think it you wind 40 full revs at least once a week...good luck...

Thank You for your responses, I want to get it serviced just don't want to be that long without it, just got it. I was planning on having it serviced after the new year, hopefully I will have $$$$ for a SUB by then and wont miss the DJ too terribly while at the service center for weeks. Watch seems to be running great again after the good wind this morning, I will definitely be keeping an eye on it.

It could have a diminished power reserve due to something wrong. In other words it will work fine but just not have full power reserve.

Understand not wanting to be deprived - but I would take it back now vs. waiting. What if store closes? What if some major damage occurs? By doing it now you avoid potential roadblocks to having it repaired free now.

I wouldn't ever overly excited or concerned the first time such a thing occurs. If it is repeated, you might want to consider full service. Many times retailers will encourage their hourly watchmakers to do "partial" services: get it up and running and regular but try to avoid full take-down. Good enough for many, but not if you want more attention paid.

Yes, it is normal.. maybe..

Only you know how active you are on a day to day basis.. It does not matter how many hours you have your watch on your wrist - if you are not active enough it will run down to only the activity you put into it each day..

Based on your narrative I would say that you simply were not active enough the previous weeks to fully top-off your watch when you took it off and it stopped shortly before you put it back on again..

Next time, wind it when you take it off for more than overnight..

I'm a real estate agent, I drive a lot when wearing the watch, just didn't want y'all to think I sat around all day. I also shake a lot of hands but I wear the watch on my left wrist. Not too much shaking going on over there, although one of my tires are out of balance which causes some vibration but I guess not enough to keep the watch wound up.
