I went with a DJ for my first so that get's my vote! When I was originally considering the DJ II it was that exact model. Love it!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your pending purchase.

But with your post, all you are going to get is other people's preferences based on their personal taste.

If you really want some help with your decision, my advice would be to post more about yourself, what you do for a living, what the watch will be worn with/used for primarily, etc.

The more people know about you and what you are looking for, the better the help will be that you get.

For me, kind of depends on what else is in your collection. Without knowing, I would say DJ, by a nose, although with that particular combo, I would need the WG fluted bezel to make it a slam dunk.

Two different spectrums. One's dressy the other likes the woods....
If there's no requirement then it's just a personality thing. I'd get more use out the Exp 2 for a first Rolex, then later the DJ2.
If your in suits/office and the second time zone isn't a concern then maybe the DJ2 is a better choice. The DJ2 can dress down in jeans and tshirt but I think it's a little harder to dress up the Exp2, though it can be done.
Exp2.

I like the WG bezel on that DJ dial. As others have stated it depends a bit on what you intend to do with the watch.

The EXP II is sporty while the DJ is more elegant. Plus the EXP II has a complication that may or may not be relevant to you.

Agreed hard to ocmpare. I think I would go with the DJ if I had to choose between the two if this is your only Rolex.

Well they're two completely different watches!! Literally, one has numbers-the other has markers, one has numbers on the bezel-one is completely smooth, one is black-the other is silver, one is brushed-the other is polished PCL's.. I don't know what you do for a living or how active of a person you are. But, I will say that the DJ2 is quite versatile like another member said.. Now if you're an outdoorsy kind of guy or have a "tough-rough" job, then maybe the Explorer 2 isn't a bad idea...

Between those two, I'd go with the Exp. I prefer the proportions of the 36mm DJ compared to the DJ2.

It's a classic and versatile. Where most collections, including my own, began.
Of the available dials you chose a great one. Love that lume!
