Shantung Dial?
Has anyone ever heard of this?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mens-Rolex-T...item1c357bd226 I did a search and came up with very limited info, both here and on Google. The reason I ask is this is my dial, complete with the same markers and hands. I always thought of it as a porcelain dial. Either way, I love it! BTW, I didn't special order it; I just asked for white with Roman and this is what they showed me. Wish I could find the original papers to see what was specified but they are long gone. Any new info out there..?

I've personally never heard it referred to as a "shantung" dial before but I'm far from the most knowledgable guy on this forum lol Someone will have more info I'm sure!

The dial was an order-able one as part #13/16008-84 for the 36mm TT DJs.
The Shantung nomenclature is less certain...like names we use for Sub's Serti dials, etc...

It's supposedly a fine silk thread covered dial used in Datejust and Cellini models for the Asian market. Part number: "13/16008-84"

Asian market, huh? I got mine in Miami but I ordered it through a friend who flew for Pan Am; back then Rolex offered a 50% discount to airlines employees so I jumped at that deal. Thanks for the info!
