Changing the face pricing

Does anyone know what Rolex charges for changing the face on a DJII? I am not looking for diamonds but just a color change.

Can you change the face at an AD without sending it to Rolex?

I am in the NY/NJ area. Thanks.

If that particular dial you want is available to to the reference watch you have then yes you can change the dial.At one time Rolex did offer dial change on a exchange price whether this still true today not sure.To change the dial is quite simple for any good watchmaker should take around half a hour.

I do not believe that Rolex offers this service anymore, however you can call a RSC to verify.

The AD from which I bought my DJII allows me to change dials free of charge within 6 month from purchase. After that - aprox 500$ per dial.

Rolex will do it at Service Center - some ADs can also do it. You now pay for the new dial and they do keep the old one. The price is not lessened despite retaining the old one (to the AD) so they will charge quite a bit since you are paying 2 markups.

The RSC price may be a little lower since you're just paying one markup.

The lowest total cost to you involves buying the dial you want pre-owned, then having a good watchmaker perform the swap, and finally reselling the old dial. Indie watchmakers will not insist on keeping your old dial.

As an aside, there is a rule for indie watchmakers with a Rolex parts account - they are supposed to retain and return old dials just like an AD.
