Contemplating the Day-Date...

I'm trying to decide between two styles of day-date references and wondered if those who own these watches have any input, regrets, optional choices they wish they had made, etc...

I've narrowed it down to the following:

YG-118238/83208. (Pictured)

Or

WG-118239/73209 with a silver tone diamond dial. This has the oyster bracelet instead of the president bracelet.

My dilemma is the dial choice on the WG model. If I go with a diamond dial, the hands will be WG and no lume anywhere at all. If I go with a stick dial, I will be able to read the time in low light.

The YG model above is my preference for a YG model, but I'm likely to wear it daily and thought a WG model would be more suitable.

Does anyone own a silver dial with diamond markers that can provide insight?

Any thoughts or comment would be appreciated. (Yea, yea, I know, go with what sings to you...blah blah blah)

Cheers

Winston

YG with champagne dial and sticks can be hard to read in some lighting conditions (lume not withstanding).

Sonny ?

Google "Miami Vice" it's an age thing. I was there and I had a YG Day Date with Champagne dial and sticks. No visibility in low light.

Okay, okay, without googling I can now see that picture as Don Johnson. I saw ALL the episodes as they aired, live at first run. It IS an age thing. Haha

What is up with everyone's lume fetish. Who cares? It only works when you go from bright sunlight into a pitch dark room, which is like...never. Anyway, get what you will wear and what you feel confident with on your wrist. Yes, something might look great in the store and online, but if it clashes with your outfit or is misplaced with your self-confidence or the people you hang with, then don't get it. It's that simple.

Go for the YG. I was always told white gold is yellow gold that was tampered with LOL. Champagne dial is perfect choice as well.

This one IS available at 30% off ticket for $45,000.00 at my AD, but..... I already have a white metal watch and replicating it with another just doesn't seem like the way to go at the moment. Yellow gold seems to add diversity to my collection. I do, however, think the platinum ice blue dial is a TOTALLY hot looking watch.

They have 2 in stock. A diamond dial and a roman dial and the have to reduce their inventory by one platinum, so whichever they can sell first, the buyer gets 30% off. A wicked deal from an AD. AND they are offering 2 years additional warranty on top of the basic Rolex warranty. Sweet deal.
Calgary, Alberta - Brinkhaus Jewelers.
Mention my name if you stop in. I told Tom I'd pass along the word on TRF.

Yellow gold is a nice choice depending on how much gold you all ready have... Do you own more yellow? More white? Or will this be your first gold purchase? I'd say if this is your first gold purchase or you already own WG, then definitely make the step for the yellow gold!!

I missed seeing your post until just now. Thanks for the great advice. I arrived at the same conclusion and have chosen to go for the gold. I'll kick myself down the road for skipping the excellent chance at such a good deal on the platinum one, but I'll have to bear that burden.
Thanks.
