In the end, these watches have always been expensive. Even in 1960 it was a lot of money if you look at what people made in those days.

I bet most people during that year were earning an average $50-100 or less per month. lol I mean average people... okay, not heart surgeons or bank managers or wallstreet CEOs. ;)
So everything is just relatively the same to cost of the watch and salary of those days and today's. |

I saw this once before. I think it was in Moses' pocket when he unveiled the Ten Commandments.

Prices in 1986 in the UK I would like these prices to be now in 2013.
16750 GMT Master £834. 16760 GMT Master11 £998. 16800 Submariner £1012. 16660 Seadweller £1161. 16550 Explorer11 £954. 6263/5 Daytona £882. how time have changed now today. 16000 Datejust £840. 17000 Oysterquartz £992. almost the price of the sub. 5500 Airking just £555. and a full service now cost that on some watches.

Bought my first stainless steel GMT in 1969 for $147. New in the box. Sold it 10 years later in need of service and with a cracked crystal for $500. Times have changed

I just read that a car in 1980 for $13000 would be like paying $33000 now. My fathers DD rect. is around $7000 new in 1980. I wonder if that was a good price for a new one then. He always said he got a good deal.
