Sunshine polishing cloths works wonders. I have been using them on 18k gold and TT Rolex's, and they look brand new after. I don't understand why more TRF members are not using these. Only use this on the polished part of your watch, either stainless, or gold.

Do you only use it on polished areas? What about brushed areas? Does it also work on SS?

I just edited my post. Only use on polished areas, either stainless, or gold. I just use my finger with the cloth under it rubbing in a straight line, back and forth. Never had to tape off the brushed area.

Cape Cod should be fine with light use.

@Keith1 - It states on the ebay sellers item of this cloth that you are not to wash the cloths. What do you do? Throw away once dirty, or a gentle rinse?

They are correct in that you do not wash them, but throw away after use. One cloth will last for months depending on how often you use it. I bought a 5 pack for less than $10. As you rub the cloth on the polished parts, it turns the cloth from yellow to black. Just use a tiny piece of the cloth until it turns to black, then move on to a new clean piece until the whole cloth is all black. You can use both sides.

I've been using CCC for years and found them gentle of you are gentle with them.

I've used Cape Cod cloths on gold and it will leave minute hairline swirlies. Have never tried Sunshine cloths. Might give them a try.

I have a strong suspicion that its not the polish but the damn pink cloths that are leaving the swirlies. Try any good fine polish with a microfiber I find has better results than cape cod.

That.
Use a silky microfiber cloth to buff off the cape cod polish. Like the kind you clean eyeglasses with. It works out most of the swirlies.

So first polish with cc and then remove residue with microfiber?

Here's my 2 cents worth...I am a woodworker and polish my chisels to a mirror finish using the Tormek sharpening system. I had a small scratch (actually more of a mark than scratch) on my new YM platinum bezel that would not rub out, and here is how I removed it: I cut a Popsicle stick to the shape I wanted and placed it in an old t-shirt (one layer). I then applied a very small amount of Tormek sharpening paste to the t-shirt and rubbed out the mark. I checked the result under a magnifying glass and could not tell any difference from other polished parts of the bezel. It worked like a dream. You can find the paste on-line or at any good woodworking store. BTW...Since then I have decided to just let the minor scratches accumulate and have RSC take care of them when I send it in for service. I enjoy wearing my watch too much to worry about normal wear.

Yes. The pink cloth is for getting out scratches and scuffs and the micro cloth gets out the fine hairlines and swirls that the pink cloth leaves behind.

Flitz and a piece of cotton (washed undershirts are great) is perfect for superficial work.
