How did I get that scratch?!!!!!!

I have had my new Explorer 2 for about 3 months and was so proud I had not scratched it....then.....bam....these minor nicks and scratches show up!! I'm like....what happened.....bummer.....but I knew it would happen sooner or later. Do you have scratches show up and you have no clue how you got them?

most of mine I have no clue how I got them. There are a few though that i remember getting and how I got them just makes the watch have some stories that I can tell =)

Yes, happens to me, sometimes I also wonder where the bruises on my leg came from.

Mostly the minor scuffs occur around the clasp area, and I'm rather careful with my watches, I guess its inevitable with daily wear.

Hope your Exp II scratches are not too serious.

All. The. Time.

I find that lighting has quite a significant effect on the visibility of the "character" of my watch too.

It's inevitable. Trying to answer why is futile!

More often than not I have no idea where they come from. I try to be careful and sometimes hit something hard and I cringe but no scratch. Sometimes I barely brush against something and like magic, there's a nice scratch. Oh we'll it's gonna happen if you're going to wear them.

Scratches don't bother me too much but scratched crystals do. I scratched mine on my GMT and have no idea how. Rik is replacing it right now for me though. Still a bummer.

It's similar to getting ur first ding on ur car door or bumper. After you get over the initial anxiety, wear it like u stole it :-)

over the years all the door jambs in the home have developed some scuffs riiiight around wrist level. rest assured, the old saying 'you should see the other guy' rings very true when it comes to marks on your rolex.

simply unavoidable. just wear and enjoy!

I tend to swing my wrists into antique door knobs at home no matter how hard I try to walk and swing my arms straight. I think I'm part orangutan.

While I'm pseudo careful, I always manage to whack one at least once every couple of weeks. Just got used to being somewhat clumsy.

I remember the first fairly big scratch in my Yachtmaster's PCL shortly after I got it. I am fairly careful with my watch, and certainly don't want to damage it. After 12+ years of daily wear, the PCL in the bracelet are fairly scratched, and I don't know how. The bezel and oyster case themselves are good.

These things happen. I remember the first scratch on my wedding ring. My car, of course, gets lots of dings.

Well now...I may have just come up with a benefit of getting "on" in years. I forget how I scratch mine, but I know I must have had a good time, because I was obviously wearing my Rolex!

I've just returned from a trip to holland to collect some machined parts, about 750kg worth, loaded some of them by hand onto the back of a pick up, I was like a girl loading them thinking about my watch, got back and noticed some scratches on the clasp and tbh I'm not that bothered, like others have said, they'll probably disappear after a service in 5 years time, but the memories shouldn't haha
