Thinking of another Rolex but conflicted

I'm kicking around the idea of picking up a second Rolex and I thought I had it nailed down to a 116333 DJII with the slate dial/green outline roman numerals. I was looking around and I stumbled on a 18038 day date president white dial/stick markers that looks realllllllly good. Now I'm running off in the head about gold Rolex's and such. I tried on the DJII at my local AD the other day and it's very nice. I have a 36mm datejust now and I do like the larger 41mm size of the DJII but I just can't get the day date out of my head. Is this a good idea to pick up a 27 or so year old day date vs a new DJII?? I can't reach for a larger Day date II unfortunately without selling something I don't want to sell.

You've got a nice vintage collection which the Day-Date would complement nicely.

Also sounds like it's the one you want!

However I have the DJ2 you are considering and can tell you it's very special.

Try 'em both on and see which one states its case loudest! Good luck with this lovely dilemma

That's a great DJII IMO. Personally, that would be my choice. But, what do you think?

Get the DJ for now and plan on trading it in for a DD later.

If it were me...The Day Date (especially gold) without a doubt...but I have tried on the DJII and for me it was OK, but not my thing ultimately.

In fact a gold president DD is my grail watch...someday...

I love the new DJ II's, go for it. Why part with something you don't want to part with when the DJ II's are so stunning and perfect.

If you can get a good deal On the Day Date I would give it a try. If it does not work for you the Date Just II will be there and you will know. The solid gold is nice and as long as the Day Date is in good condition I would not worry about the age.

I've tried them both on, to me I like the 26mm DD. It just looks classic and classy.
