My daughters boyfriend

My daughters boyfriend is turning 21.
I might give him my old 16800 one day if they get engaged.

If my 21 year old daughter wanted to spend $200-$500 any watch recommendations ?

New ? Used ?
Obviously rolex is out of the question right ?

Seiko SARB series. Best watch for the money. Might be a touch over $500.

What kind of watches does he like? Big? Flashy?

I'm a big fan of the Hamilton Field watch. It's a little over her budget, but a good option, I think.

Edit:

The version with the beige dial is quite a bit cheaper. I like it even more than the black dial.

Seiko Orange/Black Monster! Any Rolex you get for 500 bucks will be very small and need at least a 500 dollar service

being 22, and looking at my watch past, i would say the best bet for this price range would be a Tag Heuer Formula 1 or aquaracer - both are great watches, and are up there in terms of brand recognition. - if i was buying a watch and only had that to spend, i would pick either or

I agree a Tag F1 would be a great choice. I would see what kind of watches he likes first (as far as style) but I think in general a F1 is a great choice.

Would be my concern.

My GF when I was 21 is not my wife today.

My daughter is only 18 months old, but she already loves trying on daddy's watches. She will be the only one to inherit any of them, not some broseph she brings home one day.

Similar age daughter here. She loves my tic toc. And I agree with you. I don't care if she brings home Prince Harry, he won't get it either

I'd look into the seiko divers (SKX series)... can be had for a couple hundred and have proper mechanical movements that everyone seems to love. They are sharp looking too!

A few hundred $$$ doesn't get you a whole lot anymore, especially when buying new. I'm a fan of Tag and Movado but don't think it will happen under $500. ESQ might work though. And Swiss Army would be a strong contender too IMHO.

You must really like this kid. 21, huh? Wait 'till their 10 year anniversary to give anything, then pass it down to your daughter--she'll take better care of it.

Give him a watch after he becomes your son in law.... for 10 years. I gave my SIL my Breitling ti Seawolf Avenger on their 10th wedding anniversary.
