If you like the Executive Dual Time Rose Gold please help my dilemma

Hi guys, The title of this thread says please help if you like the UN executive dual time Rose Gold. Why? because if you don't like it then the advise will be too bias and won't be as helpful in this particular dilemma. But I am the one asking for opinions so I can't be picky, better to have some replies that not at all. I have the impression that not too many people like that particular watch but I can be wrong.

Here is the Dilemma: I had my Explorer II for 11 months, I like that is rugged with 100m WR. And is great for those vacations where water is involved with a different time zone. Now I am planning on adding the UN dual time mainly because I like the Modern look "beautiful rose gold/black dial combo", pretty slick in my eyes. The question is: can I justify keeping the Rolex on my collection? after all both are 100m WR and both are meant to be everyday wear. I also have the Lange 1 Timezone but that's more like business travel and for fun as well. Rolex wise, I have the Hulk and a DJII.

I just need a rational statement of why should I keep the Explorer II, if there is any

I love Ulysse Nardin watches, but while they're both the same functionality, they don't seem the same. The Nardin can be dressed up or down, but it's just not a tool watch. The Rolex screams abuse me, while the Nardin seems like a watch that enjoys sitting on a napkin next to you while you eat. Where the Rolex wants to be desk dived, thrown in mud puddles, venturing to hell and back. Just so it can wake up the next day to do it over again. I think both watches are great, and could both live in your collection harmoniously. And if you get the Nardin and the explorer loses favor, you can always sell it.

First time I saw this Executive dual time UN , I thought it's interesting but naaahhh. Time passes and I get this itch for a blingy but sophisticated gold watch and I remember this UN, so what it didn't make sense then it makes perfect sense now. I could also satisfy this itch with a PP 5167 gold, AP offshore rubber clad or something like that but that's more of what I would like to pay for this particular itch. So this UN kind of fits every angle: rose gold+Black dial+sophisticated and it meets my "under 25k" parameter. Actually with discount I might get it for 17 or 18k. So I thought OK, is like a 11k+Explorer deal. But I also by experience that when you are in the mist of getting a new watch you can justify any deal in your mind and selling the Rolex will help satisfy the itch but isn't necessarily the best choice; so I decided to post this.

1) Can you justify adding a 15th watch to your collection (3rd GMT)?

You're not seriously trying to impose sense of logic of justified order to your collection now? You have purchased a dozen watches this year alone! This is a frenetic rate of purchase. You bought (and sold) a similar number in 2012. This a hobby pure and simple. Buy what you like.

2) Regarding the Explorer II....

A classic, rugged travelers sport watch. I think that it is less recognizable than a GMT master (a positive when traveling).

3) Regarding that UN...

The UN model that you like aesthetically, many others including myself find to be a eclectic, trendy, fashion forward watch that will look dated quickly in my opinion. You used to own the more conservatively designed stainless 7/91 version of this watch (which I own). You also had a Panerai GMT last year which you quickly bought and sold.

4) Final Thoughts...

Live with the 14 watches that you have for a year or two. See how they integrate into your lifestyle. I suspect that you will find that there are certain watches that you wear more than others. You then hone down your collection to a wearable number of pieces that fit your lifestyle. Adding and changing put too rapidly has hazards of its own.

The smart thing to do is to be done for 2013. And wait to 2014 to get my Breguet 7137BA, and I am probably going to stick to that plan. I just have to stop !

Part of this UN thing goes back to May when I was deciding between the PP5146g, Lange 1 Timezone and UN el Toro. And as you know I bought the Patek in May, and I ended up getting the Lange 1 TimeZone in September and now I want to get El Toro little brother. It's just crazy!

Did I mention that the lack of black dial/rose gold in my collection is affecting me? That's something that I need to take out of my mind as well.

I seem to be in the minority here, but I happen to think the UN exec dual time is a great looking watch. I've owned one for about two years now and still love the look and functionality of it. My problem is that it just doesn't get much wrist time anymore since I've loaded up on other watches that get more playing time.
I went with the RG reference with the gator strap and gold deployant in addition to the rubber strap. It looks quite dressy on leather.
It's the handiest watch ever when changing time zones.

I'd take some photos, but I'm out of town right now and unfortunately, I'm not traveling with it.

It's beautiful, just trying to utilize resources in the best possible way. Ideally I want to have it all. Will see....

The explorer, especially the polar, is a great beat'em up watch and still a classy watch imop. A trait that not too many watches have.

Thanks for your input, the more I think about it, I come to the conclusion that I won't flip the Explorer II. So if I buy the executive UN, is gonna be more for the looks(that I love, that 90% of the forum don't) than the GMT function (even though the complication of this UN is great)
I should be Ok restraining this itch and waiting to get my Breguet for next year. But if unexpected funds come before year ends come...I can't make any promises.

I think those fat hands on that UN look sweet. I also like the idea of a dress watch you can swim with. I even like the the rectangular minute track. Would be tough for me to part with an Exp II though.

I am wearing my explorer II, and it was a like reencounter, I love it! Don't know how it cross my mind to flip it

Personally by look alone....I think the UN look a lot classier....but the EXP is more sporty and good for casual and daily wear. I think it's all depend on your preference. Personally I like something different.....so I will go for the UN.

Totally! I eventually gonna get the UN, but I won't flip the Exp. It kind of make sense at the beginning because both are 100 m WR, both GMT and both are everyday wear. But at the same time they look very different, so regardless of the similar characteristics/functions, I think they can totally co-exist in a collection IMHO

without sounding offensive the un looks like it comes from a fashion shop for fifty dollars , you would need to be in the know to know otherwise , ,,, the iwc looks expensive ,
i couldnt spend that money and have what looks like a cartoon watch ,
others will love the look , but its not for me.

I've seen a lot of $50 watches and trust me, this ain't one of them.
