WG Sub deal?
Hello, just bought my "grail" watch. New WG Sub. I traded in my SS Daytona and paid 24k. The AD picked up the taxes. Wondering if this is considered a decent deal. Oh yea, love the watch.

Not sure if that's a "deal" or not, and what does it matter now?
Enjoy your new watch and don't "Monday morning quarterback" the deal. Btw, the WG Sub is my grail as well. Show us some pics and welcome aboard! |

Congrats on a nice watch.
Considering you only got $4,375 for your Daytona I don't know if I would have done it. |

You paid $24k and gave up your Daytona?
Facepalm.jpg Everyone has been... Ahem... Pleasant, however I'll tell you straight - you got screwed. Enjoy your Sub. |

The AD did pay the taxes - don't know the rate in DC but (for example) 6% on 25k is $1500. For future purchases (and there will be if you're like most here), consider trusted sellers here. If you're curious (and maybe you shouldn't be) you could plug in your Sub's watch reference # into the "For Sale" section here and see what LNIB is going for. Frankly, I wouldn't, but you can see many other great deals there. |

Wow, tough crowd! Listen, you got an amazing watch and did better than retail. Tons of people walk into Rolex boutiques and pay retail, which I believe is about $37K now, not including taxes, for the white gold Sub. That doesn't mean they all got bad deals. Plus you got it from an AD with all stickers, etc … Enjoy a great watch!

+1. Its like when you trade in your old car to purchase a new one. You are always going to get a "better" deal if you had sold your old car privately instead of trading it in to your dealer. For me, I don't mind not getting the "best" deal because I value my time and prefer the convenience. |

I certainly agree with the general sentiment that this was a terrible deal…the WG Sub can be had LNIB from a trusted seller through TRF for around $25-26K. Therefore, you received very little (if any) real value from the Daytona in this trade. Sorry to hear, but since the deal is done, I hope you are able to shift your focus to the enjoyment of your new Sub…it is truly an amazing watch...

Congrats to you on the watch and congrats to your AD. Better to consult before a purchase than after.
