Rolex Platinum Daytona vs Patek Philippe 5170G

Another poll of two fantastic watches, a sporty Rolex vs a classy Patek.

5170G, in my mind it's just a better everyday and dress watch and more timeless tho the plat-ona is a beast and is very very gorgeous in the metal.

I'd honestly get the Daytona. Now make it a 5070P and it's a different matter (even despite the size and lemania movement).

Agree, but I'd vote the 5070G...but that's just my opinion.

5170G any day. The Daytona does nothing for me; my white dial 116520 is enough Daytona for me.

I like both, and I'd love to own both.
But if I were to pick one it would be the Patek.

I'd go with the Daytona. The PP is a damn close second though.

At that price...

I would get a Lange Datograph in pt, either new or pre-owned.

I don't think that you can compare the two watches. The PP is timeless.

My thoughts exactly. It's like comparing a Ducati motorcycle to a Bentley automobile.

And here I thought both were watches and chronos at that. A Ducati is a motorcycle and a Bentley is a car last time I checked.

Sure you can compare them and pick the one you like. Taste is subjective and the comparison seems pretty close looking at the numbers.
