Has your watch/collection increased in value?
Since buying? When was the purchase, what did you pay and what pieces are they? Have you ever lost? Chaers!

I wouldn't class that as a loss! Seriously I was hoping for some positive stories.

Agree with most people not posting what they paid for a watch, but house information is public record! ;-)

The only watch that I've ever bought that I still have that has gone up in value is my Omega 2254.50 Seamaster. I believe I paid around $1300.00 for it new from an AD about 7 years ago, it's been a safe queen since the Sub.

I don't think any of my Wilsdorf clan watches have gone down in value.

Yes but many are vintage purchased years and years ago.
Only my Zenith Daytona has increased in value as far as modern watches go. New $6K. Now about $9K. |

Asking that question here is kind of like saying-
I've never met a man who thinks he makes a lot of money but I've met a lot of men who make to much ! |

My only modern watch that has appreciated is my SS Daytona. I would probably break even on my SD 16600 and I would lose money on my GMT IIc and TT Sub 16613. This is part of the reason I no longer buy BNIB from an AD. Yes, having a new watch is nice, but if I can save a few $$$, I look at it as $$$ for my next watch. Vintage is the only arena that I would see some gain.

Mine did.. my sub probably doubled in value based on what I bought mine for and what I see them selling for. Then again I bought mine used 13 years ago and got it for a very good price.

I had this old black faced Paul Newman oyster cosmograph Daytona that I sold recently....... Went for a bit more than I paid for it.........
But seriously, I don't really think about it.......I just buy the best deal I can get when buying new ..... usually from trusted TRF sellers to minimise that initial hit........and when buying pre-owned or vintage, I only ever buy the absolute best specimen I can find mostly with box and papers wherever possible to help "future proof" them. Generally this requires paying a premium but you simply can't avoid this if you want the best examples. But I've no intention of selling and just really enjoy having them ...... So value is pretty much irrelevant. I was at Salon QP at the weekend and there was a seminar on watch collecting with quite a distinguished panel discussing their collections and what they would collect going forward for investment purposes. In all cases, the panel stressed to just buy what you like before any other consideration. But an interesting talk and quite a few new ideas on brands that have yet to catch on and yet are extremely high quality and great pedigree..... |

Yes quite a few have increased and I could buy a few more watches with the proceeds. Key is I buy what I like and do not worry about much else.

Yes, my TT Sub has gone up since I purchase it 17 years ago and my Planet Ocean has remained neutral and is edging up but it has only been 4 years.
Its still all about conditions, condition and condition.

No idea.
My investments are not watches and my watches are not investments.

I just sold a Zenith Rainbow, a Grand Seiko and a BREITLING B-1. Paid for the three about 4K € and made about 4.8K €. Not bad for 8 months.

Yes, it has. But not the reason I have a collection, it's for the sheer enjoyment.

The only increase in my collection is the number and definitely not the value over purchase price.
