Trade subC for a hot rod?
Good morning TRF,
I've been trying to sell my subC for about 2 weeks now so I can fund a zenith Daytona and earlier today I was asked if I would trade my watch for a 1923 ford model T hot rod. I've always been into cars and stuff but don't really know what to do in this situation and how much more or less I can sell that car for. If I think I can make some money on it and worth more than my sub then I'll definitely do it. What do you guys think? Be as honest as possible and if you think I'm dumb for even considering it then let me know as well lol Do you think it's worth the trade?? Have a good Wednesday!! This.. To this.. |

From the looks of just that picture I wouldn't do it.
Cheap bucket, wheels and overall look. |

Have to agree and not my idea of a hotrod looks more like a coldrod.

Hot rods do hold value pretty well, but you have to insure them and all the rest, not to mention that one may be harder to move (does not have the traditional high riding look). A couple of weeks is not that long in the up for sale category, besides a swap does not get you closer to a daytona anyway, most hot rod owners worship their cars so one willing to trade for a watch suggests it may not be that great a vehicle.

Thanks guys for getting some sense in me. I know he has it up for sale for $12,000 OBO but as soon as I saw he was interested in trading I started thinking of what it's really worth. I don't think I'm going to do the trade. Plus, I know it's going to be very hard to move especially this one.

Ask to consider the truck in the background. For the T, no way.

I wouldn't trade unless you knew where to find a buyer quickly. If you know watches better, I would hang on to the watch. If you know cars and that society better, it may benefit you. The car will have a lot more unknowns though and vehicles like that tend to have a pretty big variation on price from one person to the next. I would likely pass.

You'd have to sink some money in the car so I wouldn't.

How it's titled matters a great deal...Just from one picture I'd say it's worth around $7,500, maybe less, can't really tell what motor is in that thing.

Your asking for trouble. Limited market on that T. Sell your sub to fund the Daytona, and rest easy.

Hold on to the sub. It will be much easier to move.

I'm also in "The Camp" of not trading your watch for that 'Thing'.....cars always cost you money in the long run. Your watch is always more "Liquid" and easier to sell but of course it depends on the price you are asking(maybe you have set the price too high) and where you are advertising that it is For Sale!!!

Um, no way...
You could easily be sitting with that "Hotrod" on your driveway for 6 months or more.... Cars are (unless it's a rare Ferrari found in a barn) money pits! That hotrod seems to have a 4 cylinder engine, so it isn't very flashy. I also think that thing looks more like a "Ratrod"... Your watch will sell.
