If I were to choose, I definately go for the SD. I am not a big fan of the cyclops but do like a date function in my watch. Also, personally I love the thick case of the SD and the higher standing crystal. The polished sides of the bracelet links gives it that extra bit of exclusivity, too, IMHO. Furthermore, you don't see SD's as often "in the wild" as you see SS Sub Dates.

Having said that, I also like the SS Sub Date (I've had 9 of them), but I'd still prefer the SD due to the above characteristics.

DS +1

But there are rumors of a new case design at the Bazel show? Maybe worth it to wait before someone picks one up?

the latest rumor is a 43/44 mm case with two crowns (one is HEV); personally, i find the two crowns rumor hard to swallow...rolex would just be copying everyone else if they went that route :-(

Sub, hands down..

There wouldn't even be a Sea Dweller if the Sub hadn't started it all..

And the cyclops...everybody looks at your wrist for that tell-tale bubble...

Oh yeah........that's the one..

If I could only have one, it's be a pepsi. But, out of your options, the 16610 hands down, for me

Pretty hard to believe and swallow the 2nd crown argument ..... but if ROLEX copied someone else's design, I am then gonna liquidate all my inventory ....

I hate having to leave it on the boat every time I take a dip into the Mariana Trench.

16610 too.

I love the SD. I'd get another (if I had the funds) without thinking. But the current sub's an icon.

And as much as I'm curios--although apprehensive--to see what the upgrades will look like. Nothing excites me more than the classic designs.

I think the SD is losing its massive status .... I compared it against
the GMT MASTER IIc and you know it looks tougher than the SD. Also
the gmt IIc feels as massive if not massiver than the SD ....

Baptistman,

Are you regretting trading in your SD for the SUB?

SD for me ! I prefer the heavyweight versus the lightweight. Also prefer the cleaner looking no cyclops crystal.

SD for me. Own both, the SD feels better on my weist, and is more exclusive.
